About this file

This document is an Amendment 1: Q&A addendum to Invitation to Bid (ITB) PSSD26-ADMIN-6356 issued by San Bernardino County Human Services/Information Technology Services Department on March 24, 2026, for the procurement of a Cisco Catalyst 9400 Series chassis switch. The amendment addresses five key clarifications regarding equipment specifications and licensing terms. San Bernardino County confirmed acceptance of the C9400-LC-48HN line card as a like-for-like substitution for the C9400-LC-48UX, which has reached End of Sale status with the last purchase date of April 30, 2026. The County declined requests for a side-by-side comparison of the substituted components and specified that bidders should quote 5-year DNA licensing to align with the chassis configuration rather than the default 3-year term. Additionally, the County clarified that only a single Supervisor card is required for this bid, rejecting the industry best practice recommendation for redundant Supervisor cards.

The amendment reflects critical updates to the original bid specifications in response to vendor inquiries regarding component availability and configuration options. The County was initially unaware of Cisco's End of Sale announcement for the original line card specification but confirmed the situation directly with Cisco and subsequently approved the alternative C9400-LC-48HN part number. These clarifications ensure that all bidders submit proposals based on the same updated technical requirements and reduce ambiguity regarding licensing duration and supervisory module configuration, thereby facilitating a fair and competitive bidding process with a proposal submission deadline of March 26, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time and anticipated contract award during the week of April 6, 2026.
