About this file
This document is an Invitation to Bid for the Linn Benton Lincoln Education Service District's (LBLESD) Student Information System (SIS) Hardware. LBLESD is seeking a modern solution to host the SIS software needed to meet the needs of its component districts and non-component customer districts. The key requirements include four UCS C220 M6 servers or five UCS C220 M5 servers to meet the core count, M.2 SATA drives for booting ESXi, and Intel Xeon Gold 5218 CPUs. LBLESD also requires 3-year InterSight SaaS Essentials licensing, 3-year SmartNet support, and no setup or configuration services.
Regarding pricing, LBLESD is seeking cost details for the compact flash and M.2 drive options, as well as the differences in cost between the C220 M6 and C220 M5 server configurations. The contract opportunity covers jurisdictions in Linn County and Albany City, Oregon.

INVITATION TO BID
Student Information System (SIS) Hardware Addendum 1 Thursday, April 7, 2022
This addendum is being issued to address questions from vendors.
1. The core count cannot be met based on the number of hosts using the UCS C220 M5 servers. With the 3rd Gen XEON processor on the UCS C220 M6 servers, you can meet the core count with four servers. He has built it based on the UCS M6 server, but he can also use the C220 M5 host if we increase the host count to 5. Do you have a preference?
In order to meet the core count requirement between 4 nodes I need to build out a C220 M6 server as opposed to the M5 which will not support the core count unless we add a fifth node. I added 2 x M.2 SATA drives for boot as newer versions of ESXi do not support booting from SD cards.
Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 5218 CPU @ 2.30GHz shows as 64 logical CPUs in our existing M5SX C220's, which are only 16 cores each. A dual CPU config should divide by 4 to get the total cores per CPU, since each is a dual core. 16 or greater, in a 1U standalone chassis is what we want with the flash card for VMware OS, and VIC 1457 cards.
We would prefer to have similar capacity or greater, as long as it doesn't require a different platform with different configuration requirements in InterSight SaaS, or firmware CD's.
2. For the storage, how much capacity is needed?
.M2 NVME 256GB RAID 1 for ESXi install since Compact Flash is going away per VMware.
3. For Intersight, what level of licensing will you need?
· InterSight SaaS Essentials - 3 years
4. What level of Smartnet support is needed and for what duration?
· IMC Supervisor Advanced 1 Server license per unit
· UCS Central Per Server 1 Server license per unit
· Basic Support for DCM
· 3YR SNTC 8x5xNBD (SmartNet)
5. I can still select SD cards in the M5s, but VMware has announced that the next major version of ESXi will not support SD cards anymore. Do you want to stick with SD cards or go with the M.2 drive boot module?
Both options for the drives, since we'll likely have to upgrade the existing UCS hosts when we get to that version of ESXi. We want to know what the cost differences are between the compact flash and .M2 drives. If we have to go to .M2 on our current UCS servers, then I kind of need to know how much it is going to cost either now or in the future, unless that isn't user serviceable, then the .M2 option is fine.
6. Lastly are you guys wanting any set-up or configuration for these new servers?
· No setup or configuration required.
