About this file

This document is an Insurance Requirements file for the State of Michigan, detailing comprehensive insurance coverage requirements for contractors bidding on state contracts. The file outlines mandatory insurance specifications that contractors must maintain, including minimum coverage limits for Commercial General Liability ($1,000,000 per occurrence), Automobile Liability ($1,000,000 per accident), Workers' Compensation (according to applicable laws), Employers Liability ($500,000 per accident), and Garagekeepers Liability ($1,000,000 per occurrence).

The insurance requirements mandate that all policies must protect the State of Michigan, be primary and non-contributing, and be provided by an insurance company with an A.M. Best rating of "A-" or better. Contractors must provide insurance certificates to the Contract Administrator, ensure subcontractors maintain required insurances, and notify the administrator within five business days of any policy cancellation. The state requires additional insured endorsements for most policies and expects contractors to be responsible for all property losses or damages, including those in transit or under the contractor's care, up to replacement value.
