About this file
This is a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) document from the U.S. Forest Service for the FY2025 Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG) program specifically for Indian Tribes. The grant aims to assist at-risk communities with wildfire planning and mitigation, with funding available for two primary project types: development/revision of Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPP) with a 10% match requirement and maximum award of $250,000, and implementation of projects described in CWPPs less than 10 years old with a 25% match requirement and maximum award of $10 million.
Applications are due by March 14, 2025 at 11:59 pm Eastern Time through cwdg.forestrygrants.org, with approximately $200 million available in this third round. Priority is given to communities in high/very high wildfire hazard areas, low-income communities, and those impacted by severe disasters within the past 10 years. Eligible applicants include Indian Tribes, units of local government, nonprofits, state forestry agencies, and Alaska Native Corporations. Projects must be on non-federal lands or Trust lands and support the goals of the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy. Applicant webinars are scheduled for December 2024, including a Tribal-focused session on December 4th.
