STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW)

1.0 BACKGROUND

NIAMS is one of the nation’s premier research institutions in clinical research in muscle, skin, bone, and rheumatic diseases. The mission of the GTS is to help NIAMS investigators solve highly diverse biological and biomedical research questions by providing a diverse portfolio of sequencing services as well as consultation and training for researchers with specific needs or challenging problems. The core is a state-of-the-art laboratory facility equipped with the latest DNA sequencing and library preparation technologies. Investigators within the Intramural Research Program of NIAMS use a wide range of genomics applications for the study of muscle, rheumatic, immunological and skin diseases, and rely in the use of these technology for their studies. Request For Quote Number 75N92022Q0274 biomedical research questions by providing a diverse portfolio of sequencing services as well as consultation and training for researchers with specific needs or challenging problems.

To support the various sequencing needs of NIAMS Investigators, the GTS Core Facility acquired the MiSeq in 2012 (HHSN268201200235P), the NovaSeq 6000, and the NextSeq 550 in 2019 (75N92019P00359 and 75N92019P00304, respectively). The MiSeq enables levels of output that range from 1 to 25 million read-pairs and up to 250 cycles sequence, the NovaSeq 6000 allows up to 400 samples per run and produce outputs up to 20 billion reads, and the NextSeq 550 permits up to 16 samples and produce an output of 400 million reads. Multiple labs use these sequencers to conduct sequencing experiments in their different areas of research. The Sequencers must be properly serviced to ensure optimal function and reliable operation, and it is essential that all services be done by certified and factory trained engineers who have access to the original parts and software to maintain the equipment at the highest level of performance. Currently, these sequencers are under multiple Silver Plan maintenance contracts that are set to expire on 12/31/21 (NovaSeq/ 75N92020P00254; NextSeq 550/75N92B21P00053; MiSeq/ PO 6497712/Req 6085226). In the event of needed repair, problems must be addressed with minimal delay to continue research. To maintain the leading edge on genomics and epigenomic research areas and support the Intramural Research Program efforts, the GTS Core Facility is currently seeking the purchase of a maintenance contract that includes all 3 sequencers with the intent of addressing the Institute’s repair needs and preventive maintenance with minimal interruption of lab operations.
