2.01 Cables, Connectors, and Wiring Harnesses

This functional area includes the fabrication, assembly, testing, certification and delivery of various inboard and outboard cables, connectors, and wiring harnesses. Cables are single or multi-conductor, and include coaxial cables and bundled shielded conductor subassemblies.

As specified in a Technical Drawing Package (TDP), a procured cable may require specific characteristics of shielding effectiveness, corrosion resistance, attenuation and phase, and minimal signal losses. The connectors have a unique fit/form/function in order to mate with existing components. Cables and wiring harnesses shall be fabricated and tested in accordance the technical specifications and associated TDP.

2.02 Electrical & RF Components

This functional area includes the fabrication, testing, certification and delivery of electrical and radio frequency (RF) components which include circuit cards, switches, amplifiers, waveguides, diplexers/triplexers, bias tees, filters, integrated circuit chips, and passive antenna elements.

Electrical and RF components shall be tested and certified in accordance with specific characteristics as described in the technical specifications and associated TDP.

2.03 Machined Parts

This functional area includes the fabrication, testing, certification and delivery of machined parts. The machining of parts may include cutting, turning, milling, grinding, and welding of various materials. Materials include Beryllium Copper, Titanium, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum. Additionally, as specified in a TDP, secondary processes may be required, such as painting, plating, and anodizing. Machined parts shall be fabricated in accordance with the technical specifications and associated TDP.

2.04 Composite Materials and Radomes

This functional area includes the fabrication, testing, certification and delivery of composite materials and radomes. Composite materials include structures made from filament wound or layup fiberglass, quartz cyanate ester, and other materials. This includes characterization of specialized, functional coatings, and materials and polymers to protect hardware from corrosion and biofouling.

Composite materials and radomes shall be fabricated in accordance with the technical specifications and associated TDP. Additionally, as specified in a TDP, specialized testing may be required in order to demonstrate conformance to the technical specifications including RF loss, dielectric constant, and hydrostatic pressure resistance.

2.05 Electrical/ Mechanical Assemblies

This functional area includes the fabrication, assembly, testing, certification and delivery of electrical and mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies. Assemblies are defined as integrated units or modules, which include combined circuit card assemblies, machined and fabricated parts, Commercial off-the Shelf (COTs) or Government off-the Shelf (GOTS) components, and cabling/connectors packaged into a single unit. Assemblies may be standalone systems or may be designed to be integrated into larger systems. Assemblies shall be fabricated in accordance with specific electrical and mechanical characteristics and tolerances as described in the technical specifications and associated TDP. Additionally, as specified in a TDP, specialized testing of operation, interfaces, and environmental survivability may be required in order to demonstrate conformance to the technical specifications.
