City of Austin Scope of Work for Bike Repair Stations and Bike Repair Tools

1.0 Introduction

About the City of Austin The City of Austin, Texas, population 840,000, is the 13th largest city in the country. This vibrant and dynamic city tops numerous “Best” lists for business, entertainment, cost of living and quality of life. Austin was selected as the “Best City for the Next Decade” (Kiplinger), the “Top Creative Center” in the US (Entrepreneur.com) and is in the Top Seven List of Intelligent Communities for 2012 as ranked by the Intelligent Community Forum. Austin continues to lead the country with its vision of being the “Most Livable City in the Country”, emerging as a player on the international scene with such events as SXSW, Formula 1 and being home to companies such as Apple, Samsung, Dell, The Seton Healthcare Family and St. David's HealthCare systems.

From the home of state government and the City of Texas, to the “Live Music Capital of the World” and its growth as a film center, Austin has gained worldwide attention as a hub for education, business, health, and sustainability. Since 1900, Austin's population has doubled every 20 years, with continued projected record-breaking growth into the next decade and beyond.

2.0 Purpose

The purpose of this Invitation for Quote is to procure bike repair stands and bike repair tools for a Bike Tool Loan Program being piloted by Austin Transportation and Public Works and Austin Public Library. The goal of the pilot is to increase access to basic bicycle maintenance tools by allowing the public to check out bike tools at select library locations. Items include outdoor bike repair stations, mounting posts, bike repair tools, etc.

3.0 Tasks/Requirements Comment by Figueroa-Casas, Manuela: Should we list the items that we need them to provide? Or add a “Offer the products included in the price sheet?”? Also, we will likely need to order replacements of all these items. Is that possible under these terms? Do we need to include anything about warranty? Comment by Figueroa-Casas, Manuela: Here is info on warranty: https://www.parktool.com/en-us/form/warranty Comment by Colbert, Andre: Yes we typically refer the vendors to the price sheet but I will make some edits to include the item numbers on the price sheet Comment by Colbert, Andre: This will be a Central Transaction so this will be a “one time” purchase . We can only include warranties on long term Master agreements we will add warranty terms for that specific SOW , we can increase quantities on the price sheet to cover for potential replacement parts.

3.1 The Contractor shall:

3.1.1 Have a minimum of one (1) year experience supplying bike repair tools and repair station products to an agency similar in size and scope to the City.

3.1.2 Be an authorized dealer/reseller of the products offered. Comment by Figueroa-Casas, Manuela: Since we increased quantities to account for replacements, do we need to include a line about providing UP TO the quantities listed on quote sheet? Comment by Colbert, Andre: No need to add, the vendor will need to supply the exact amount we are requesting on the quote sheet since this is a one time purchase
