All newly installed fire alarm panels and related components upon completion of installation, shall be tested by the contractor to demonstrate system functionality. For security and safety purposes, at no time shall more than one fire alarm system be non-operational at a time without the authorization of the Administering Contracting Officer. At no time shall a fire alarm panel be non-operational for more than 8 hours. The government retains the right to determine technical acceptance for all submitted equal products. The current fire alarm panels notify a central control room by being connected from the fire panels alarm relay and trouble relay to a PLC which reports to the control center turning on an alarm LED in control for that building. This will need to be reconnected on new fire alarm panels to have this function.

Of the twenty-two (22) existing panels, fifteen (15) are General Electric IRC3 fire alarm panels.
