CLARIFICATION SET NUMBER ONE

REPLACE FREEZER FS WAREHOUSE

FMC CARSWELL, FORT WORTH, TEXAS

LISTED BELOW ARE QUESTIONS THAT WERE SUBMITTED. ANSWERS ARE PROVIDED IN

HIGHLIGHT/UNDERLINE/BOLD.

How much 0 degree product is put in the -10 degree box per day?

200,000 pounds of product are received and used every 90 days.

How much time is the door open per day? This is considered in the design of the refrigeration load.

The freezer doors are opened approximately 2 hours a day intermittently

The spec is calling for a monitor alarm – the standard monitor alarm is mounted on the door frame and just makes a loud beep, which, since the door is outside, may not actually be audible inside the building.

Shall contractor include a monitor alarm system that can alert maintenance/ building services in case of temperature loss? These usually tie into the office manager’s computer, and can be programmed to email and text staff.

As discussed at the site visit (pictures are provided in amendment #1), the existing freezer has a flashing light indicator that is located on the outside of the building. This light is monitored by mobile patrol units 24/7. This is sufficent for the new construction. SEE AMENDMENT #1

Where will the alarm be sent? Kitchen, exterior, maintenance, etc.

See above answer

Shall contractor install a motion sensor, which can also alert maintenance/ building services/ security in case someone is inside the freezer? It also turns on the lights. It will also log door openings and closings and will keep a temperature log for HAACP purposes.

This will not be required. The freezers are monitored by security staff 24 hours a day

Since this is a detention facility, shall contractor include an exterior locking bar/ mechanism on the door? If so, then the motion sensor is strongly recommended. The doors are generally equipped with a handle inside the box that will open the door, even when locked- but that’s only for the lock in the handle. A locking bar will stay locked.

A simple hasp with padlock capabilities shall be provided to secure the entrance door.

Is a redundant refrigeration system not required? They have two compressor units drawn, but based on the size of the box, the refrigeration load will need to be split, so two compressors will be required for standard refrigeration. If this unit is full of food, a redundant refrigeration system is insurance against loss of much of product in case of failure.

The refrigeration systems should be submitted according to drawings provided by the BOP.

It appears the walk-in will NOT abut to the warehouse building OR the CMU block wall, correct? This information is needed for design of the membrane roof and tapered insulation properly.

The walk in freezer does not abut to any buildings and is a free standing structure.

Specification 2.2E, Interior walls and ceiling to be aluminum with a factory applied white epoxy. An epoxy finish may have to be field applied. Will a baked enamel also be acceptable?

Any field applied product will have to be reviewed by BOP staff before application. Any product that is used must be equvilent to a factory applied finish.
