Question: In reading the Summary of Work I have a question if abatement is required for this project - one paragraph indicates abatement is to be completed upon all areas asbestos is disturbed - while another indicates the contractor is responsible for any damage to asbestos materials. Is the contract requesting complete abatement within the area prior to piping replacement - or only areas deemed necessary by the awarded contractor for access?
Answer: Only areas deemed necessary by the awarded contractor for access, or any area that is disturbed by the contractor.
Question: During the progress of the project will the contractor be allowed to store Class B Tools and Gang Box in the big room at the bottom of the stairs or in crawl space?
Answer: Yes "CLASS B" tools will be authorized to be stored in a gang box with the capabilities of being padlocked secured.
Question: During the progress of the project will the contractor be allowed to store new material (pipe, fittings, pipe couplings and hangers) in the big room at the bottom of the stairs or in crawl space?
Answer: New material will be permitted to be stored in the big room at the bottom of the stairs, however excessive amounts of material will need to be stored outside the "West Gate". Possibly only a weeks’ worth of material to be stored inside due to space and security limitations.
Question: During the progress of the project will the contractor be allowed to store demolished pipe and fittings in the big room at the bottom of the stairs or in crawl space?
Answer: Demolished materials will be permitted to be stored in the big room at the bottom of the stairs, however excessive amounts of material will need to be stored outside the "West Gate". Possibly only a weeks’ worth of material to be stored inside due to space and security limitations.
Question: Would the Contractor be permitted to store locked gang boxes in the Pipe Cellar with all Class A, AA and B tools inside to reduce daily check in/out time?
Answer: Yes, only "CLASS B" tools will be authorized to be stored in a gang box with the capabilities of being padlocked secured. Neither Class A nor Class AA will be authorized to store in the gang boxes inside the pipe cellar.
Question: Would the Contractor be permitted to store Cast Iron pipe, fittings, hangers, etc. in the Pipe Cellar by Machine Room # 4?
Answer: New material will be permitted to be stored in the big room at the bottom of the stairs, however excessive amounts of material will need to be stored outside the "West Gate". Possibly only a weeks’ worth of material to be stored inside due to space and security limitations.
Question: Is the acid waste piping to remain or be replaced?
Answer: The acid waste piping is to remain.
Question: Is the existing drain piping from the Relief vents, Sterilizer Waste and Steam that drains to the Sump Pit to remain or be replaced?
Answer: We do not need to replace the drain piping to the relief vents. We DO need to replace the Sterilizer waste line. As far as the steam that drains to the sump pit, there is no steam that drains to the sump pit. So no to that.
