Exhibit A – Scope of Work
A. Service and Work: Contractor agrees to provide the California Science Center (“Science
Center”) all materials, supplies, equipment and labor necessary to provide inspection services of all rockwork underwater and above the surface of the Kelp Tank Exhibit, provide reports for sustainability and stability of said rockwork, and repair faulty and damaged rockwork.
B. Background Information: The Kelp Tank is a 188,000 gallon saltwater tank exhibiting live animals such as leopard sharks, horn sharks, moray eels, giant sea bass, rockfish, spiny lobsters, anemones and more. The existing rockwork within and around the Kelp Tank Exhibit is meant to be décor for the live animal environment that lives within the tank. It is meant to create a naturalistic view of an underwater kelp forest that is commonly found off of the southern California coastline. Some of the rockwork is submerged in the water at all times and some is exposed to the elements at the surface. As a result, it needs to be inspected by an experienced professional for cracks, crumbling, soft spots, and leaching, all which could be indicative of larger failure points that, if left unattended, could sheer off, injuring both animals and scuba divers.
C. Hours of Service: Work shall take place between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, unless otherwise approved by Science Center Contract Manager or designee.
Contractor must notify Science Center Contract Manager of any delays in schedule as soon as possible. Work is expected to take no more than one week, unless otherwise approved by Science Center Contract Manager.
D. Service Locations and Schedule: Services will take place at the Ecosystems Building (Phase II), Kelp Zone Gallery at the California Science Center, located at 700 Exposition Park Drive, Los Angeles, California 90037.
E. Technical Specifications/Reference Files:

3. Contractor shall provide a written report to identify, photograph, and report all compromised sections of rockwork to Science Center Contract Manager or designee.
a. Compromised sections are defined as sections of the rockwork that are crumbling or breaking, or sections that appear to be too shallow and will, therefore, crack or break in the future.
b. Contractor should identify any surface that will become infiltrated with water and will inevitably break down and break away.
c. The written report should provide evaluation of points of rockwork that are susceptible for breaking/cracking or are in poor condition. The report should also include which should be fixed urgently, are stable but require attention, and low priority.
4. Any rockwork identified that must be fixed urgently for the health and safety of living animals and dive staff, shall be repaired as part of this contract up to 150 cubic feet of rockwork.
5. Contractor must scuba dive the exhibit to access most of the rockwork. All divers must be comfortable working around animals and understand current animal husbandry practices so that they can move, or encourage an animal to move, out of the way appropriately.
6. Contractor must be comfortable working “on display” while our guests watch from outside of the Kelp Tank Exhibit. All mannerisms and communication must remain professional.
7. Contractor must follow and abide by all diving safety procedures deemed necessary by Science Center Marine Operations Manager at all times, including but not limited to:
a. All Divers will be required to read and sign Science Center Scuba Diving Liability Release
Form (See Exhibit A.2, Science Center Contract Scuba Diving Liability Release).
b. All Divers must supply their own dive equipment, including SCUBA cylinders with proof of current hydro and VIP displayed.

8. Contractor and Contractor’s personnel shall meet with the designated Science Center Contract Manager prior to mobilization. All planned activity will be reviewed by Science Center Contract Manager prior to commencement of operation.
9. Contractor shall provide details related to the potential generation of sound and vibration, light and the introduction of foreign material into water column verbally to Science Center Contract Manager prior to start of work.
10. At any time, the Science Center Contract Manager, Marine Operations Manager or designee may randomly inspect any and all aspects of the work site, materials and documents to ensure compliance and shut down work if conditions are not met.
11. Contractor shall abide by the following General Safety Guidelines:
a. All Contractors will contact the Science Center Contract Manager upon arrival to the work site and prior to starting work.
b. Prior to work Contractor will supply a manifest to the Science Center Contract Manager of all employees working on the project that includes names, personal and emergency contact information.
