About this file
This document outlines the minimum insurance requirements for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) contract IFB 93F-24 "Restraining Rail End Approach Left Hand and Right Hand". The Contractor is required to carry and maintain several types of insurance coverage throughout the term of the contract, including Commercial General Liability Insurance, Automobile Liability Insurance, Workers' Compensation Insurance, and Umbrella Liability Insurance. The required coverage limits and terms are specified in detail, such as policy endorsements, insurance provider qualifications, and notice requirements. The MBTA must be named as an additional insured on these policies, and the Contractor must provide certificates of insurance demonstrating compliance.
The insurance requirements apply to the Contractor as well as any subcontractors performing work under the contract. The insurance policies must be primary and non-contributory to any insurance or self-insurance maintained by the MBTA. This ensures the MBTA is adequately protected from liability throughout the contract term, which may include any extensions.
