About this file
This is a pricing input form from the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) for IFB 142-24, detailing requirements for various metal stock materials including sheet metal, plates, bars, and rods. The contract encompasses 16 product categories including COR-TEN sheet stock, stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized sheets, and various structural metals, with delivery requirements of 5-10 days for standard items and 10-20 days for specialty items. The contract term is three years valued at $1.5 million total, with two one-year renewal options worth up to $500,000 per year.
The pricing methodology requires bidders to provide both a sample price for one high-volume item per product category and a fixed percentage markup that will remain constant throughout the contract duration. The estimated annual spend is approximately $500,000, with T316 Stainless Steel Sheet representing the largest portion at 27.244% of total spend, followed by COR-TEN Sheet Stock at 16.421% and Hot Roll Plate at 16.380%. The MBTA reserves the right to audit pricing by requesting OEM invoice documentation within 5 business days, with final pricing calculated as OEM Invoice Cost plus the awarded vendor's markup percentage.

Bidder Offered Pricing (Column I) One (1) item (only) in each Product Group Percentage (%) markup (Column J) Fixed % (contract duration)
$700 is the invoice price the bidder would charge the MBTA for material qouted and shipped on 12/13/2024 for the item listed, assuming standard order quantities and lead time. This price includes all distributor-associated costs, overhead, markup, transportation, profit, etc.).
10% is the markup that the bidder will add to the OEM's invoice for any purchased item in this product grouping for the duration of the contract. This 10% should be all inclusive of bidders operating, overhead and profit.
This % is NOT added to the $700 (bid price), rather its the % markup ADDED to the OEM Invoice base cost to calculate final NET price to the MBTA. While OEM pricing can fluctuate with market conditions, the % markup remains constant during the duration of the contract.
| Contract Audit |
| The bidder/awardee may be requested to provide documentation |
supporting the calculation and final price to the MBTA.
The awardee would have a reasonable amount of time to provide.
(< 5 business days) Failure to comply with the request may result in suspension or termination of the contract This request can be made during both the BID and Award process By having the OEM's invoice to the distributor, the MBTA can:
Validate acquisition costs (cost basis) Apply bidder markup % (IFB table) Arrive at price to MBTA OEM Invoice Pricing (Cost Basis) + Markup % = MBTA Invoiced Price
