To support these tasks, the Laboratory Data Support Branch of ECARS manages all vehicle and engine-related data produced by emissions testing facilities at ARB. Managing data includes acquiring, organizing and storing data for ARB data users and maintaining data systems that support the division’s goals for enforcement, certification, vehicle testing and laboratory support. This includes providing technical support to data users, maintaining current data systems and developing new systems for ECARS and its clients.
Manufacturers of new motor vehicles, engines and aftermarket parts must be certified or exempted by the California Air Resources Board (ARB) for emission compliance before they are legal for sale, use, or registration in California. The New Vehicle and Engine Programs Branch, of ECARS process manufacturers’ certification applications and exemption applications. Staff requires Oracle MySQL training to extract and generate reports for management decisions, and to maintain the databases containing certification related data as new regulations and work needs arise.
