About this file
This document is an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for the pre-purchase of rooftop equipment for the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) at three bus maintenance facilities - Arborway, Southampton, and Charlestown. The IFB specifies the procurement of packaged, air-cooled DX rooftop units and packaged, direct-fired (or indirect-fired) outdoor heating-only makeup-air units. The units shall match the existing roof curbs, electrical characteristics, and weight requirements. A mandatory pre-proposal site visit is scheduled for August 30, 2022. Bids must include unit drawings, product data, information submittals, and pricing/lead time details. The awarded manufacturer shall provide support services, including operational and maintenance data, warranty information, and startup/training assistance. The installation contract will be awarded separately by the MBTA.
The IFB provides detailed technical specifications for the required rooftop equipment, including casing, fans, compressors, coils, filters, controls, and electrical requirements. The MBTA will not make any modifications to the existing roof openings. Acceptable manufacturers are Daikin, Carrier, Trane, and Johnson Controls. The replacement units must meet or exceed the performance of the existing equipment. Pricing and delivery timelines are key factors in the evaluation and award.
