About this file
This document details the Dynamic Ratings iBridge Point-to-point kit (KIT-520), a communications and networking solution designed for power systems in generation facilities and substations. The specific requirements include purchasing 7 kits, each containing 2 CE-520 iBridge units, 2 6' power cords with NEMA 5-15 plugs, and 2 IND2000N iBridge inductive signal couplers (9mm). Key features include secure data transmission over existing infrastructure using 128-bit encryption, signal coupling via snap-on inductive couplers, interoperability with standard protocols like DNP and IEC 61850, and a compact design with a minimal 152 mm x 109 mm x 28 mm footprint. The system offers flexible power sources (48-250 VDC or 100-240 VAC), operates in temperatures from -40°C to +70°C, and provides advantages such as rapid deployment, no electrical side effects, cost efficiency, and reliability under changing electrical loads.

Dynamic Ratings iBridge Purchase Salient Characteristics:
The iBridge system, as developed by Dynamic Ratings, is a communications and networking solution designed for use in power systems, particularly in generation facilities and substations.
The salient characteristics are as follows:
• Specific Requirements:
o Qty 7 of the Dynamic Ratings iBridge Point-to-point kit (KIT-520). Each kit must include:
▪ Qty 2: CE-520 iBridge
▪ Qty 2: 6’ power cord w/ NEMA 5-15 plug
▪ Qty 2: IND2000N iBridge inductive signal coupler – 9mm (0.35 in.)
o The supplier will include an Authorized Reseller letter with submission.
• Core Functionality o Data Transmission over Existing Infrastructure: iBridge allows secure data communication using existing conductors, eliminating the need for additional cable runs. Conductors chosen for use with the iBridge can be AC or DC signal or power conductors for their primary purpose, or they can be unused spare conductors.
o Signal Coupling: Uses snap-on inductive signal couplers (available in 9, 13, 18, or 25 mm cores) to transmit serial and Ethernet-based data efficiently.
o Interoperability: Integrates with standard protocols such as DNP, IEC 61850, Modbus, and supports point-to-point or multidrop configurations.
o Encryption & Security: Data is transmitted with 128-bit encryption, minimizing the risk of data interception or tampering.
o Reduced Latency: Inductive coupling reduces delays compared to some wireless or galvanic alternatives, which is critical for operational signals and control loops.
• Physical and Installation Features o Compact Design: Minimal footprint enables easy installation in existing electrical cabinets - 152 mm x 109 mm x 28 mm (6.0 in. x 4.3 in. x 1.1 in.).
o Flexible Power Sources: Can be powered by AC or DC sources. For Reclamation use, the ability to power with 125V DC is advantageous. Power requirement range is 48 - 250 VDC or 100 - 240 VAC 50/60 Hz.
o Power Connection Options: Power connection can be either a power cord or a screw terminal wiring plug depending on option chosen.
o Minimal Infrastructure Alteration: Installation avoids new cable pulls and conduit runs, reducing project cost and downtime.
o Wide Operating Temperature Range: Rated temperature range is -40°C to +70°C (-40°F to +158°F).
• Additional Insights o No Electrical Side Effects: iBridge signal coupling over existing cables does not affect operations. It does not cause unwanted electrical side effects.
o Rapid Deployment: Installation times are lower compared to fiber or wireless networks.
o Cost Efficiency: Minimizes changes to hardware infrastructure, lowering total cost of ownership.
o Scalability: Suitable for large substation networks with multiple devices interconnected over existing lines.
o Reliability under Changing Loads: Maintains consistent data bandwidth even as system currents fluctuate or during load switching events.
