Instructions to update information in SAM
1. Go to www.sam.gov
2. IF YOU HAVE NOT YET ESTABLISTED AN ACCOUNT IN SAM, click on “Create Account” (See red arrow above). Once you’ve created your account OR IF YOU ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT, enter your User Name and Password, and click on “LOGIN” (See Green arrow above.)
3. The next screen should be the SAM Terms and Conditions” displaying the Usage Agreement. Please review this information and then click the “ACCEPT” button.
4. At the “Welcome” screen, please click on the “YES” to migrate your CCR information over to SAM. NOTE: If you have already migrated your information, skip this and instead click on “Register/Update Entity” under “MY SAM” on the left side of the page, and then “Complete Registration”. NOTE: If your CCR registration was “inactive”, you will need to click on “Inactive Registration” rather than “Complete Registration”.
5. This will bring up a “Search for an Entity” screen. Scroll down the page until you see your company. Select the company’s name and continue.
6. On the “Determine Purpose of Registration” screen, the only option available for the first question is “Business or Organization”. Please select “Yes” for the 2nd question, and “No” or “Not Applicable” for the next.
7. You will need to continue to click on the “Next” &/or “Save and Continue” or “Save and Confirm” buttons, as applicable, at the bottom of each screen until you reach the “Submit Certification” section.
NOTE: As you complete each section, a green will appear on the left side of the page. However, if something is incomplete, you will see a red X, which indicates a correction or additional information is needed.
Once you have completed your registration and clicked on the “Submit” link, you should receive a message indicating that your registration has been completed. You will then have the option to print the screen.
Your information will undergo IRS Consent Validation. This normally happens overnight, but can take 3-5 business days if your original CCR registration was inactive. Your SAM information should become “active” once the IRS Consent is validated, therefore, you will need to verify your status accordingly.
