About this file

This is a FAR Part 12 Sole Source Justification and Approval document (Control No. KNOX-SAT-2026-0144) for a firm-fixed-price contract with Anatomage Inc. to procure an Anatomage Virtual Cadaver Table system for the U.S. Army Medical Recruiting Brigade at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

The requirement encompasses the Anatomage Virtual Cadaver Table Convertible, shipping crate, Samsung tablet, protective hardcover with convertible monitors, one-year warranty with software upgrade and technical support (Anatomage Table On Premium), four-year extended warranty with software upgrade and technical support, online training, one-year promotional anatomy lessons access, and tablet provision. All items are scheduled for delivery on September 30, 2026, using Operations and Maintenance (OMA) funds for fiscal year 2026. The justification establishes that Anatomage Inc. is the sole developer, owner, and exclusive licensor of the proprietary Table software, digital anatomy libraries, and system-specific updates, with no authorized third-party resellers in the United States. Market research conducted via the Digital Marketplace (CHESS) on July 1, 2026, and direct outreach to the manufacturer confirmed no alternative vendors can supply the required equipment and support. The government certifies fair and reasonable pricing based on comparison with previous similar commercial purchases under FAR 12.204(a). Contracting Officer Joseph R. Lawrence (joseph.r.lawrence3.civ@army.mil, 520-945-8992) processed this justification on July 27, 2026, noting the system's critical role in enabling the Brigade to demonstrate modern, medically accurate anatomical content aligned with current medical school curricula to prospective medical professionals.

5. Authority Cited: Simplified acquisition procedures for Commercial Products and Commercial Services, Title 41 U.S.C. 1901 as implemented by FAR 12.102(a) only one source is available valued at or below the simplified acquisition threshold. (DFARS CD 2026-O0028).

6. Reason for Authority Cited:

a. Background: Anatomage Inc. is the sole developer, owner, and exclusive licensor of the Anatomage Table software, associated digital anatomy libraries, and system-specific updates. The required equipment and support listed above, including the interactive 3D anatomical datasets, proprietary imaging models, and integrated instructional modules—are not available from any other source. This equipment will be used in identifying, assessing, and engaging qualified medical professionals for Army service. This capability is needed to enhance the Brigade’s outreach, education, and demonstration efforts by providing medically accurate, interactive anatomical content that aligns with modern medical training environments. The Anatomage platform enables the Government to demonstrate Army medical career pathways, illustrate clinical concepts to prospective recruits, and support recruiting events with advanced, immersive medical visualization tools.

Anatomage Inc is the sole provider of the equipment and support listed above. Their company’s proprietary system provides medically accurate, interactive 3D anatomy models aligned with current medical school curricula and clinical training standards.

These capabilities are essential for effectively engaging prospective medical professionals and demonstrating the Army’s advanced medical training environment.

b. Alternatives. Anatomage Inc. is the sole developer, manufacturer, and exclusive licensor of the Anatomage Table software, digital anatomy libraries, and associated system updates. The system operates on a closed, proprietary architecture, and no third-party vendors are authorized to provide software renewals, content updates, or technical support. As a result, only Anatomage Inc. can meet the Government’s requirements. Anatomage is the sole distributer of their products in the United States, there are no authorized resellers per their website.

c. Impact if justification not approved: Failure to approve this action would result in a reduction in the capabilities of the Medical Recruiting Brigade. A reduction in capability would result in a reduction in outreach for potential Army soldiers. The Anatomage digital anatomy platform, which is essential for conducting effective medical recruiting, outreach, and educational engagements. Without the Anatomage system, the Brigade would be unable to demonstrate modern, medically accurate anatomical content that aligns with current medical school curricula—significantly reducing its ability to engage and attract qualified medical professionals.

7. Efforts to Obtain Competition: The Contracting Officer shall publish the notices required by FAR 5.101.

a. Effective competition: The research confirmed that no other vendor can provide Anatomage hardware or software environment. The Anatomage platform operates on proprietary architecture, and Anatomage Inc. is the sole developer, manufacturer, and exclusive licensor of the required software updates, content libraries, and technical support. No third-party vendors are authorized to provide these services.

b. Subcontracting competition: Because this requirement is based on proprietary technology for which Anatomage Inc. is the sole developer, manufacturer, and exclusive licensor, opportunities for subcontracting competition are inherently limited. The required software updates, digital anatomy content, and technical support can only be performed by Anatomage personnel due to the proprietary nature of the system and the company’s exclusive control over its intellectual property, source code, and digital anatomy datasets.

8. Actions to Increase Competition: Although the current requirement is proprietary to Anatomage, the Government remains committed to promoting competition to the maximum extent practicable. The following actions will be taken to increase competition for future requirements.

a. Conduct recurring market research at least annually to identify emerging technologies, new vendors, or evolving capabilities in the digital anatomy and virtual dissection market. This includes reviewing industry publications, attending medical technology conferences, and monitoring academic medical simulation trends.

b. Engage with industry through Requests for Information (RFIs), Sources Sought notices, and vendor capability inquiries to determine whether any new entrants can provide comparable or interoperable systems.

9. Market Research:. Market research was conducted within the past 12 months in accordance with FAR Part 10 and DFARS 210.001 to identify all qualified sources capable of meeting the Medical Recruiting Brigade’s requirement for the Anatomage hardware and support. The research included a review of industry capabilities via Digital Marketplace and vendor outreach via emails with manufacturer. Market research conducted via the Digital Marketplace (CHESS) on 1 July 2026 yielded no vendors capable of supplying the required equipment and support. A SONA approval (216825613) was secured. Additional market research was conducted by reaching out directly to Anatomage, the manufacturer, and they confirmed it has no authorized third-party resellers, establishing Anatomage as the only source able to provide the required equipment and support.

10. Interested Sources: Based on market research only Anatomage is capable of providing their proprietary equipment and support. UEI: LYNBMG2467W9, CAGE:
