STATEMENT OF WORK
INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION (IRS-CI)
PURCHASE OF PEN-LINK PLX
SHOPPING CART # 5000194652
C.1 Introduction/Overview In support of its law enforcement investigative mission the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Criminal Investigation (CI) Division has a need to purchase software maintenance and support for an existing Pen-link PLX installation along with additional licensing that includes software and support and 12 Month contract as detailed in Section 3 Scope. Period of performance is August 1,2024 to July 31, 2025.
C.2 Background Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation (CI) is the law enforcement arm of the Internal Revenue Service. CI is charged with the enforcement of the federal income tax statutes. CI's top priority is the investigation of violations of the federal income tax law.
Additionally, CI special agents lend their financial investigative expertise to money laundering and narcotics investigations conducted in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. Digital Forensics (DF) is responsible for the acquisition, processing, and analysis of digital evidence related to ongoing criminal investigations.
In conjunction with accomplishing their law enforcement mission, IRS CI Digital Forensics must acquire, preserve, and analyze digital evidence including pen registers, IP intercepts, and trap & trace orders. Special Agents need specialized tools to analyze packet headers resulting from court orders. As we continue to move more into a mobile world, Digital Forensics needs modern tools to support modern captures.
