The Forest Pesticide Use Proposals are submitted with a calibrated volume of 20 gallons per acre. This means that any outside group applying herbicide on the Forest has to calibrate their applications to the same level.
For the glyphosate products the Forest has PUP’s for Rodeo, Aqua Neat, and Round Up Pro.
If outside groups want to use different herbicides or in some cases, you can purchase herbicides that is a premixed combination of the active ingredients. We need to submit a PUP for those products. The problem we run into is that different labels have different Active Ingredient levels, and this changes the application rate.
If an entity that is not the Forest Service is intending to apply herbicide to forest lands, they need to submit a project specific PUP to the R4 Regional Office for approval before start of application.
