QUESTION & ANSWER
1. Just wanted to clarify the annual usage/ amount.
This is a monthly service, and these amounts look very small (which is fine) but we want to clarify are these amounts monthly or annually?
Ans: It is a monthly service.
We want to submit an accurate quote, however; the numbers seem to be small.
2. This email is related to Notice ID HT941025Q2005 as stated in the subject line. The Annual Usage Laundry Service attachment outlines an estimated quantity of 1440 laundry items per year and the Statement of Work requires a weekly laundry service pick up and drop off.
Would you be able to provide an estimated quantity of laundry items per week or confirm if the Naval Medical Center will need laundry services of all 1440 items on a weekly basis?
Ans: Laundry pick- up is not every week but every first Tuesday of the month between 0700 and 1000. Drop off is every second Thursday of the month between 0700and 1000.
Contracting officer will be notified about the update.
3. Is there an incumbent on this contract? If so, who is the incumbent, and what was the previous award amount?
Ans: Currently there is no incumbent and I do not have the answer to the previous contract award.
Can you provide the expected volume for each of the items to be laundered on a weekly basis?
a. Chef Smock- 29
b. Chef Pants- 11
c. Aprons -5
d. Tablecloths -14
e. Cloth Napkins-6
Ans: Not a weekly basis laundry pick up, but monthly, above numbers are estimated. It can change based on deployment and command functions. With deployment, less cooks/less laundry and more command functions, more tablecloths/napkins.
Apologies for the chaser email, but this estimate could be in # of articles of clothing and/or estimated weight if that is available.
Ans: Estimated weight for each tablecloth may between 2 and 5 pounds. The chef smocks, pants, napkins and apron are based on number of articles. But it is up to the Contracting officer.
4. I'm trying to understand the laundry schedule. There will be a pickup once a month and as needed. How often is needed because the cost is a fix price?
Ans: We have not encountered any issue with as needed, but if it happens may be once or twice.
5. To help us provide the most accurate and competitive quote possible, could you please confirm the approximate quantity or weekly count for each item type? This information would be essential for our pricing calculations and to ensure we meet the required workload expectations.
Ans: N/A.
6. Question: I know the document says annual in the title, but 60 table napkins or 120 aprons seems very low for a whole year. in a hospital kitchen. So, I will ask it another way.
The chart says 600 Chef's Smocks, is that the yearly number of smocks expected to go for laundry services or some other time frame? The answer is critical in order to estimate the work value.
Ans: We do not cater for the entire hospital when it comes to the table napkins. The napkins are entirely within the galley or when we have a special guest visiting which happens occasionally.
The aprons are substituted with disposal aprons and the 600 chef smocks are estimated number which comes out to 50 smocks monthly. One factor can affect that number, which is deployment, and that number may drop to less than 50 smock monthly.
