Snow Rail System

Statement of Work

A. Background:

The Cumberland Manufactured Housing Storage Site located in Cumberland, Maryland is one of two sites within FEMA that stores manufactured houses. The site contains a 145’ x 400’ building that is used to store pre-containerized meals and water. Because this building is climate-controlled, the temperature is inspected every three hours. During the winter, snow accumulates on the metal roof and stays there until it begins to melt. Due to the nature of metal roofs, the snow breaks free and falls down all at once. This is a serious safety concern for personnel entering the building to perform the inspections.

B. Objective:

To install a snow rail system to prevent the built-up snow from falling and injuring personnel and damaging equipment.

C. Scope of Work:

Install snow containment system on 145 ft. wide x 400 ft. long metal building. Approximate height at the eaves is 36 ft.

D. Specifications

I. The snow rail system must be constructed of metal. Metal fasteners shall be used.

II. The snow system must have a minimum of 2 rows on each side.

III. The contractor must furnish all labor, equipment and materials necessary to install the snow rail system.

IV. The contractor is responsible for disposing of all excess material or debris properly and off site.

V. The contractor must have experience performing the same or similar services required.

E. Location of Work:

Cumberland, Maryland

F. Delivery Schedule:

The snow rail system installation must be complete no later than 60 days after the award date.
