1. The specs & plans mention that the fender system should be removed if it is in the way of any tie backs. Does the fender system have to be removed in order to paint the sheet pile or can it remain in place during the blasting and coating operations?
ANSWER: The intent was to leave the fender system in place during the recoating.

ANSWER: One timber fender is called out to be replaced on the West Pier. Delete the word “pile” in that leader note.

ANSWER: There are no timber fender piles or timber fenders called out to be replaced on the Main Pier.
5. The drawings use the singular form when it mentions to replace “Timber
Fender Pile in‐kind” on both S‐102 & S‐103 while referring to the same pile in the respective drawings for each pier so we’d just like clarification if the expectation is to replace all or just 1 at each pier (East and West) and confirmation of zero Timber Fender Piles at the Main Pier.
ANSWER: See answers to questions 2, 3, and 4 above.
6. B3‐S‐504 I understand you have to weld the top channel to the sheet pile and tie rod plus the bottom wale to the sheet pile. Is this continuous around the entire wharf?
ANSWER: The continuity weld takes place on the lower wales of the East and West Piers. The welds shall be located at the contact point between of the sheet pile and lower channel, the sheet pile and upper channel, and the tie rod nut and upper channel. The length of the welds shall be 1”. The spacing of the welds shall be at the location of each tie rod along the east and west faces of the East and West Piers (approximately every 6’‐6”).

11. Under Option 1 you will remove 2” of Bituminous Pavement and 8” of existing Concrete. It says to regrade existing gravel and install 3” of new Bituminous Pavement. Does the contractor bring in 7” of crushed gravel to have the new pavement elevation match the old pavement elevation or do you leave it down 7”?
ANSWER: The elevation of the new pavement shall match the existing elevation. Contractor shall furnish crushed stone and install such that the new bituminous pavement matches the grade of the surrounding pavement.
12. They reference obstructions located in Station 11+33 to Station 12+33…Can you please advise what the head room clearance is in these areas?
