QUESTIONS & ANSWERS 2

24 May 2016

1. NOTE: question 16 from Amendment 01, requires clarification: building security cameras will NOT have to be returned to operation on a daily basis. The Coast Guard will engage other methods to ensure site security during construction.

2. We are replacing Panel L1 (100-amp Main breaker) with Panel NL1 (225-amp Main lug panel). Are we using existing 100-amp feed or new feed? If new feed what size and where is it fed from?

Response: See Sheet E601. The existing panel is fed from the existing Main Switchboard. It is fed with a 175/3 breaker and #4/0 conductors. The existing feeder is to be retained. The panel is being replaced because it is a 100A panel installed on a 175A breaker.

3. Note #2 on page E701 shows powering DCU equipment with 50-amp breaker from panel LOP. Panel P3 shows on it panel schedule feeding the same equipment with 50-amp which panel is this being fed from?

Response: Do not serve this circuit from Panel P3. Do not provide a new 50A, 2-pole breaker in Panel P3. Serve this circuit from Panel LOP with a new 50A, 2-pole breaker as shown by Keyed Note #2 on E701. Also change the homerun on EP101 to indicate that the circuit should be fed from Panel LOP, Circuit 2,4.

4. Note #1 on page E701 to install new 175-amp breaker in place of 225-amp breaker is this correct?

Response: The Contractor shall replace the existing 225A breaker with a 175A breaker as indicated on this drawing. The existing 225A breaker is larger than permitted by the National Electrical Code for the transformer which feeds the panel.

5. On sheet M601 it indicates that there is an existing building DDC system. If this is true where is it located, who is the manufacture of it and is it expandable?

Response: There is not an existing DDC system. The DDC system will be new.

6. On sheet M602 the mechanical schedule indicates “Buy American Act”. What is the basis of design for all equipment?

Response: Basis of design are Greenheck for Exhaust & Modine for the Makeup Air Unit. Ductless split systems are exempt from the Buy American Act and the basis of design is Mitsubishi.
