Question #1: Drawings A501/C3 call out for interior crown molding patch and Sand and paint existing window . But there is no interior elevation show extend of damage/paint surface. Is this work part of the contract? Please verify. Please provide us estimate quantities for estimating purpose?
Answer #1: There is no painting and sanding of existing windows. The windows are vinyl - that is noted on the drawings.
The window head detail C3, sheet 7 shows the plaster molding and wood window molding. The plaster patching and molding repairs consist of repairing existing water damage at some locations, and damage that will occur when the lintels are replaced and from hammering/impacts. The plaster will crack as some of the work is done, and the wood molding may crack or be damaged; it is our intent to have the contractor repair the plaster and wood moldings that are damaged as a result of the work process.
All windows have plaster moldings above the windows; the number of windows and the sizes of the openings can be established by using the elevations, which are drawn to scale.
The water damaged (pre-existing conditions) molding and patching work occurs at 4 windows only, all on the north elevation. That is not specifically noted.
Question #2: If we are going to do interior work, is the building going to be occupied? Please clarify.
Answer #2: As stated in Specification Section 01 14 00 1.1.4, the building that the work will be performed on is occupied and will be occupied.
Question #3: Is there going to be after hour? (Our time work ). Please verify.
Answer #3: As stated in Specification Section 01 14 00 1.1.2 and 1.1.3, regular working hours will consist of an 8.5 hour day Monday through Friday, which will be established by the Contracting Officer. Work outside regular working hours will require approval by the Contracting Officer.
Question #4: Drawings G-001 Note 3 call out for 7 Lintel remove/replace and 4 Brick Jack arch. But on drawings A201 & A202 show only
(6) Lintel to be replacement and (3) brick Jack arch. Please provide us a location of the 7 lintel and Jack Arch.
Answer #4: Drawings A-201 and A-202 are correct.
1. Drawing A-201 shows (6) lintels with jack arches for replacement at the North elevation (please note that this is a base bid item), and (1) lintel with a jack arch replacement at the South elevation. These are denoted by key notes 3 and 4. (This is correct).
2. Drawing A-202 shows (2) lintels with jack arches for replacement at the East elevation, and (1) lintel with a jack arch for replacement at the West elevation (denoted by keynote 3). At the West elevation, there are (2) lintels indicated to be replaced that do not have jack arches (denoted by keynote 4) (This is correct).
Optional Bid Item 2, sub-item (a) in Specification Section 01 11 00 1.1.1 and Solicitation Section B is revised to include the following items and incidental related work:
Remove one (1) lintel with a jack arch replacement at the South Elevation, two (2) lintels with jack arches for replacement at the East Elevation, and one (1) lintel with a jack arch for replacement at the West elevation. At the West elevation, there are (2) lintels indicated to be replaced that do not have jack arches. Work includes providing new galvanized steel angle lintels, new laminated copper flashing and repointing approximately 10 square feet of brickwork around each lintel area, replacing brick at lintel bearing and jack arch areas, including cracked brick, and resealing around windows/doors.
Question #5: Please will you confirm if the main roof of the building in question is part of the contract.
Answer #5: The main roof - the hipped shingled roof - is not in the contract. It is the 2 smaller roofs shown on the drawings. They are labeled on both the plans and specifications as the portico and porch roofs.
