Amendment 0002 Page 2 IFB HSCG87-10-B-PJT002 Kodiak Steam Repairs, PH VII

The following clarification is provided in response to question from prospective bidder

Q: In Section B.2 Contingent Pricing - Repair Method - Asbestos Abatement or replacement of 6” Steam Main – The option bid item calls for 400LF of steam asbestos abatement and is silent about re-insulation.

A: All re-insulation costs should be contained in the base bid. The basic work described on the contract drawings also shows known locations of asbestos insulated pipe, and other asbestos work. This work should is to be included in the Base Bid item.

Contingency item number 6 is to cover the cost of unknown locations of asbestos that may be encountered in the course of the work. If more asbestos insulation or asbestos remnants are discovered during the course of the work, the government wants it removed.

If the contingent pricing item is exercised by the government, it is the contractor's option to replace the pipe or clean the asbestos. Again, re-insulation is already covered under the base bid portion of the contract.
