NOTES
1. Flow rates represent minimum flows needed to achieve a turbulent flow condition and maximize benefits of flushing effort.
2. Flow rate selected for flow velocity of 25 ft/sec in the schedule 80/160 pipe, as applicable. If there is a conflict between the pressure and flow rate requirements of this specification, the minimum flow rates shall be governing, unless the working pressure of the system is exceeded. The uses of by-pass (flow control) valves are not allowed downstream of the flow meters.
C2.8.1.4 Whenever a noticeable increase in the pressure drop across strainers is observed, the strainers should be cleaned and bag renewed. Be aware that this may occur as frequency as 15 min intervals.
C2.8.1.5 During flushing, constant monitoring of the flushing oil must be maintained in order to determine the contamination level. Filtering shall continue until the fluid entering the return flow filter meets the particle population ISO cleanliness code of 17/14, in accordance with ISO 4406. All flushing fluid shall pass through the return filter after passing through each system flushing circuit. All samples shall be taken at a point just prior to this filter

C2.8.1.6 Take a representative sample of oil from the hydraulic system of the hydraulic system. Send samples out for laboratory analysis. Analysis shall include viscosity, moisture, total acid number, particle size and population in sufficient detail to determine ISO cleanliness code of 17/14, in accordance with ISO 4406. Submit CFR.”
3.7.8 SFLC Std Spec 6341, Appendix A, Paragraph A2.1.1, replace with “A2.1.1 Cove vase. Include a cove base, using the same epoxy resin deck covering system material, to a maximum height of four inches at all adjacent vertical bounding surfaces, where applicable."

3.3.1 Renew lagging at the locations identified by the Coast Guard Inspector, in the compartments listed above.
3.4 Prework Survey
3.4.1 Accompanied by the Coast Guard Inspector, visually inspect and record all piping, valve stencils and markings in areas where lagging is to be renewed.
3.5 Insulation Removal
3.5.1 Remove insulation from the chilled water supply and return piping system in the designated work area(s) listed and identified in the survey. Dispose in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
22 (Rev-0)
3.5.1.1 Clean any surface contaminants, old glue and remaining insulation fragments from the piping system.
3.6 Operational Test
3.6.1 While the lagging on the chilled water system is removed, verify proper operation of the components or systems affected by this work. During this testing, run the equipment through its full range of capabilities in all configurations and operating modes.
3.6.2 Tightness Test- With the aid of ship's force, operate the installed chilled water pumps. Visually inspect the entire chilled water system where lagging has been removed for indications of system leakage.
Provide a CFR to the ship noting any leakage. Tightness testing will be performed by running the system at its highest normal operating pressure. No leakage shall be allowed after holding test pressure for a minimum of 10 minutes.
3.7 Insulation Renewal
3.7.1 Wipe all cleaned surfaces with bleach to kill any residual bacteria prior to installing new lagging.
3.7.2 Using CG Dwg 378-FRAM-W 514-1 and CG Dwg 378-FRAM-W 514-2, the contractor shall replace the insulation on the chilled water piping systems in the designated compartments.
3.7.3 Install new insulation in place of the removed insulation. Install the new insulation in accordance with referenced CG Drawings and ASTM F683, Tables S1.1 and 5 and MIL-STD769. Select insulation materials and thickness for the application and temperature ranges specified in ASTM F683, Tables S1.1 and 5. Note: Install closed cell foam insulation in way of all removed insulation. Completely glue the foam to the piping. Glue the seams on the foam. Provide and install new blanket wrap on the new foam insulation.
3.7.4 Prior to installing new insulation, secure the chilled water system and allow the piping to warm to ambient temperature.
3.7.5 Prior to installing the new insulation on the piping, wipe any condensation from the piping using dry rags.
3.7.6 The contractor will also replace the insulation on the chilled water system valves in the spaces.
Approximately twenty-five (25) valves are involved.
3.8 Insulation Preservation
3.8.1 Prepare and coat all new insulation material in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 6310, use coating system:
MIL-PRF-24596 Water Based Fire Retardant, Class 1, Grade A. Final topcoat shall match original existing color.
3.8.1.1 Restore all piping stencils as original.
3.9 Lagging Repair Acceptance
3.9.1 After completion of lagging repairs and renewal, wait until glue has completely cured to renew stenciling.
3.9.2 Energize system after all coating systems have cured
23 (Rev-0)
3.9.2 Walk the spaces where lagging was repaired or renewed in conjunction with the Coast Guard Inspector and verify that all lagging was renewed, that lagging has been properly recoated, that all stencils have been restored and that the new insulation is not allowing condensation to occur.
3.10 Compartment Restoration
3.10.1 Touch-up preservation. The Contractor shall prepare and touch-up coat all disturbed surfaces to match existing adjacent surfaces in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 6310, Appendix B (Cutter and Boat Interior Painting Systems). Abide by all touch-up requirements outlined in SFLC Std Spec 0000, Appendix A (Requirements for Preservation of Ship Structures).
3.10.2 Restore all affected work areas to a clean condition.
