REQUEST FOR CLARIFICATION

SHIP & HULL No.: CGC HICKORY (WLB 225) FY12 UNPLANNED DRYDOCKING

RFP No.: HSCG85-12-R-P45R77

SOLICITATION SECTION: PARA NO.

WORK ITEM NO. Work Item # 10 PARA NO. 3.3

TITLE: Temporary Services

QUESTION:

At present we do not have an isolation transformer or can we locate one on short notice. We have quotes out to several vendors for building and providing us an isolation transformer but they cannot provide in time for this emergency drydocking. Would it be possible to obtain the isolation transformer again from the government which was located in Kodiak if it was available?

RESPONSE:

The isolation transformer is only required while the cutter is waterborne. While in drydock, the cutter hull must be grounded in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 8635, para. 3.3.5.1. If the cutter is in a floating drydock, the cutter hull must also be grounded to the drydock hull so that they are at the same potential.

While the cutter is waterborne, grounded shore power shall not be connected and the cutter will run an on board generator.
