Solicitation No. HSCG85-08-B-625488
Dry-dock & Repairs of CGC CHASE (WHEC 718)
Amendment No. A00002
The purpose of this amendment is as follows:
a.
The answers to the following Request for Clarification are as follows:
QUESTION:
Optional Item O-69, Superstructure Preserve, paragraph 3.1.2; paragraph 3.1.2 identifies a decks, exterior preserve work item that has not been included in the specification package provided. Is it the intent of the Government to exclude this item or will it be provided at a later date?
ANSWER:
The specification item “Decks, Exterior Preserve” is not an anticipated part of this package.
Optional Item O-70, Fuel tank Preservation, paragraph 3.1.1; Contractor is requesting location of fuel tank to be designated for preservation. Without this information, contractor, unless otherwise directed, will estimate open/close, install safety screens/rings and plug to accomplish any test required. Contractor will also estimate 150 sq. ft. for degreaser, clean & preserve as listed on 1 Scope. Please review, advice, and/or concur.
Location of tank will not be provided until tanks have been inspected. Concur with contractor’s interpretation of anticipated scope of work. Preparations, work, and interferences common to all tanks should be included in the bid. Any items unique to the individual tank will be handled via change order.
Optional O-70, paragraph 3.5.1; paragraph 3.5.1 states that for tank cleaning, follow the requirements of the definite items referenced in paragraph 3.1.1. Do not bill those costs to this item. Will a cleaning and pumping item be provided to bill cleaning costs against or are those costs considered to be a part of the 2000 gallons of bilge water & waste oil call out in item D-45 on page 236?
ANSWER:
This item will be exercised if, following cleaning and inspection of a fuel tank, it appears the tank is suffering from coating failure and is in need of partial renewal. Tank cleaning costs normally incurred during tank cleaning should be billed against the tank cleaning item. Any cleaning and pumping necessitated solely due to fuel tank preservation work should be billed against the preservation item.
QUESTION:
D-11 & O-50 Tanks (MP Fuel Stowage and overflow) clean & inspect, paragraph ALL; contractor notes that items #D-11 & O-50 are identical in title and work requirements. Unless otherwise directed contractor will quote both items the same believing that the intent is to have one the items deleted and/or revised in the near future. Please review and advice.
This Request for Clarification has already been answered under Amendment No. A00001 dated 11 April 2008, in which it states the following:
Replace table 3.1A in item 11 with the following:
Modify paragraph 3.1.1 to require the disposal of “approximately 600 gallons” from the tanks.
b.
All other terms and conditions cited on the solicitation remain unchanged.
