WORK ITEM 1: Fixed Ballast (Lead Ingots)

1. SCOPE

1.1 Intent. This work item describes the requirements for the Contractor to provide epoxy powder-coated fixed ballast (lead ingot, pig) as designated on individual Task Orders.

3. REQUIREMENTS

3.1 General.

3.1.1 Epoxy Powder Coated fixed ballast (lead ingot, pig). The manufacture Contractor shall supply lead ingots as specified in Section 1 (Scope), paragraph 1.1 of this work item. All lead ingots shall conform to

QQ-L-171e, grade B. Lead ingots shall have no sharp edges.

3.1.2 Shipping. The manufacture Contractor shall package all lead ingots for shipping in accordance with all Federal, State and local regulations. All lead ingot weights shall be clearly labeled per packaged unit.

The Contractor shall provide shipping of packaged lead ingots to locations designated in Section 4 (Notes), paragraph 4.2 as designated on individual task orders.

3.2 Scrap fixed ballast (lead ingot, pig). The manufacture Contractor shall purchase existing lead ingots removed as scrap with a sixty day lead time for reciept.

3.2.1 Shipping of scrap fixed ballast (lead ingot, pig). The manufacture Contractor shall provide any additional return freight shipping documentation for (scrap) lead to include Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) or Purchase Order number as required. The install Contractor will package the existing removed (scrap) lead ingots in accordance with all Federal, State, and local regulations and provide shipping of the ingots as designated to the manufacture contractor freight dock. The existing ingots will be placed on pallets, shrink wrapped and labeled with total weight.

3.3 Receipt of scrap fixed ballast (lead ingot, pig). The manufacture Contractor shall notify the Contracting Officer (KO) after receipt of (scrap) lead and verification of weight received.

3.4 Documentation. The manufacture Contractor shall provide the following.

a. Weight and Q&A documentation for Epoxy Powder Coated fixed ballast (lead ingot, pig) shipped.

b. Received date and total weight for returned existing fixed ballast (lead ingot, pig).

4. NOTES

4.1 Coast Guard inspection. The Coast Guard Inspector will conduct the following inspections:

Weight and Q&A documentation for Epoxy Powder Coated fixed ballast (lead ingot, pig) received.

Total weight and packaging of existing fixed ballast (lead ingot, pig) shipped to Contractor.

4.2 Delivery Locations.

The COR will work with the Contract Specialist to develop a schedule of dates and locations to accomplish this work. Work will be performed at multiple locations within the continental US. Lead Ingots will be purchased on individual task orders and shipping locations will be made available at that time. The Coast Guard intends to complete lead ingot replacement on each of the WMEC 210’ A & B Class Cutters.
