STATEMENT OF WORK FOR SELF LOCATING DATUM MARKER BUOY (NEXT GENERATION)
1. BACKGROUND
Conducting Search and Rescue (SAR) operations is one of the many missions of the United States Coast Guard (USCG). Self-locating Datum Marker Buoys (SLDMB) are oceanographic drifters that continually transmit their position and other environmental data in support of SAR missions. This data is provided directly to the USCG SAR Optimal Planning System. SLDMBs are deployed from both USCG surface and air assets. Once deployed, SLDMBs are expended and sink at the end of their operational life cycle. The USCG is currently using the Metocean SLDMB for these SAR missions. The current inventory of SLDMBs is made up of (900) unique identification numbers (UIN). It is the goal of the Coast Guard to acquire next-generation SLDMBs that include improved form, fit and function.
2. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
Each prospective offer shall review the enclosed product definition and respond to the solicitation with an offer(s) that includes the product commercial information, any modifications and how the product meets, exceeds or does not meet the product definition. This shall be done for each product for each requirement major heading (X.X) with any exception data included. Each SLDMB shall include the operator and maintenance manual(s).
3. QUALITY ASSURANCE
The Contractor shall have a quality program that ensures conformance to contractual requirements and meets or exceeds the requirements of ANSI/ASQ/ISO Q9001-2008 Quality Management Systems – Requirements, or an equivalent quality system model.
4. GOVERNMENT FURNISHED PROPERTY, SERVICES, AND INFORMATION.
