Specifications and Requirements for removal and replacement of current bridge crane at Coast Guard Buoy Depot on Yerba

Buena Island, San Francisco, CA.

Narrative:

There is currently a 3-ton, under running, single girder, bridge crane at the Coast

Guard Buoy Depot at Yerba Buena Island, San Francisco, CA. We need it removed and replaced with a free standing, 10-ton, top running, single girder bridge crane.

The crane is located in a partially enclosed, large carport type structure that can be completely covered. Although covered, the structure is open to a very moist environment.

Along the outside of the structure there are seven 6”x 6” I-beams that support seven steel trusses which are anchored to the 3 ft. wide concrete pillars on the building side of the structure. The pillars are a part of the building structure. This truss system supports the current bridge crane, and the corrugated roof, and must be maintained in its’ current position. (See attached photos).

The existing bridge crane is supported by, but not integral to the existing structure.

There are two 102’ lengths of support railing, (six sections of 34’ each), 21’ of span railing, crane assembly, and 4 bar electrical buss duct that is to be removed by the contractor. (The Coast Guard will dispose of any removed materials).

The seven I-beams that support the outside of the structure also create six bays of slightly varying widths. (See attached drawing). New supports for the new crane must be aligned adjacent to these existing supports to minimize the narrowing of these bays. Vertical supports on the opposing building side must be adjacent to the concrete pillars, and may be attached to those pillars for added stability.

Requirements:

The contractor will provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the removal of an old 3-ton bridge crane and for the construction and installation of a new 10-ton bridge crane at the USCG Buoy Depot at Yerba Buena

Island, San Francisco, CA. Upon completion of work the contractor will load test and load certify the newly installed crane.

The Coast Guard will ensure that all mounted/un-mounted equipment and all obstructions to the necessary work inside the structure are cleared prior to the start of the contractors work.

The Coast Guard will provide electrical power to the new bridge crane via disconnect and conduit.

The vendor shall meet all of the following requirements. They will be rated on a pass/no pass basis. They must be all PASS to be considered for award:
