1. Is there any sub-aqueous cable required. I have done a project at New Haven USCG station where we installed new shorties and cabling and was required to be Type G cable. Is there any such requirements for this project?

There are not any requirements for sub-aqueous cabling at this time. All of the cable runs will begin at the main breaker panel and end at the shore tie boxes on the hard face piers.

2. What are the sizes of the existing conduit? It appears that if we use the 90C degree column we would be in compliance using 4-500mcm and one #1/0G cable (including calculation for voltage drop) for the 400amp circuit and 3” conduit.

The existing conduit size for the 400 amp circuit run appears to be 3” PVC. Please note that this circuit only requires three current carrying conductors and a suitably sized ground. A neutral conductor is neither required nor utilized in this installation.

3. The 60amp runs would require 4-#4 & 1-#10cu in minimum 1-1/4” conduit. The conductors chosen would be THHN/THWN-2.

The existing conduit size for the 60 amp circuit runs are 1 1/2” PV coated rigid conduit. Please note that these circuits only require three current carrying conductors and a suitably sized ground. A neutral conductor is neither required nor utilized in this installation.

4. Is there any PVC coated RGS conduit involved?

The current conduit for the 60 amp circuits is PVC coated rigid conduit.

5. Does the 400 amp shoretie have lugs to handle either 1 Set of 500mcm or parallel runs of 3/0 conductors? If not are we responsible to renovate the existing shoretie or supply one of adequate size? We also assume the other two shoreties are of adequate size as well.

The existing shoreties will be re-used unless, during installation, an inspection reveals that they are not suitable for continued use. If changing the conductors from a single set to multiple parallel runs would require renovating or replacing the existing shoreties then parallel runs are shall not be used.
