ANSWER TO QUESIONS PART 2

Questions Part 2

(a). What is your preference for submitting the bid?

Answer: Bids should be submitted via email Shirley.green@dss.mil no later than 2pm closing date.

All quotes received after 2pm will be consider late quotes.

Would you like us to mail it to the contracting office at the address below in Quantico, VA?

Answer: NO

Or do you have a method for us to submit it electronically or can we just email it to you?

Answer: Email

1. The quote mentions that Power Poles may be needed but there's no line item for them.

Answer: Power poles are only needed if the vendor feels they need them in order to maintain the 12” separation requirement. Power poles are suggested as a means to accomplish this task, but if they have a better way, then by all means bid it.

2. The quote also mention that the vendor will have to supply panduit molding and there's no line item for the molding.

Answer: Not sure what they mean by a line item. Our statement of work clearly states that they must provide the Panduit solution on the perimeter walls in order to keep the cabling internal to the suite (not inside the walls).

3. How much additional panduits we would need to be provided for DSS use?

Answer: At least 25 feet of additional Panduit will be required.

4. Could we used any manufacture for the jacks, patch panel, wall mounted cabinet and cable?

Answer: As long as the jacks, patch panel and cabinet will be able to hold shielded cabling, yes.

5. On the labor you ask for 40 hours. Are you calculating that this job will take Two Men 40 hours to complete?

mailto:Shirley.green@dss.mil

Answer: However you want to do it. The calculation of 40 hours is an estimated time. Bid what time you think it will take to accomplish the job.

6. When is the DUE date for this QUOTE? and could we fax it in.

Answer: Due date may change depend on the on-site visit.

7. Is there a specific manufacturer for the material specified?

Answer:

8. CLIN 0005 mentions a 36 port patch panel, however, the scope of work, on p 8, mentions "A twenty-four (24) port cat5e Ethernet patch panel must be installed to the top of the new server cabinet" - should we quote the 24-port? (24 or 48 port is also most commonly available and more cost effective)

Answer: To be safe, I would quote a 48 port.

9. The scope of work mentions POWER POLES may be needed and INSTALLED. Since the pricing if FFP, has a quantity been determined for this task? Also, is this to be included under CLIN 0012 or elsewhere?

Answer: Power poles are only needed if the vendor feels they need them in order to maintain the 12” separation requirement. Power poles are suggested as a means to accomplish this task, but if they have a better way, then by all means bid it.

10. The scope of work mentions the POWER POLES must match the aethetics of the furniture. Does the furniture vendor have a POWER POLE accessory to your specific model that can be purchased? If so, what part number / manufacturer?

Answer: The vendor of the furniture only sells to government furnished vendors. I recommend buying a third party power pole and using that as long as it matches the aesthetics of the furniture.

11. Is there a color preference for faceplates - IVORY or WHITE?

Answer: I recommend red faceplates. This way we can distinguish red drops from the blue and white ones throughout the office.

12. For the perimeter walls, it mentions the Panduit solution must match the color of the suite. What color is that?

Answer: A site visit will be required to answer this.

13. Similar to question 2) - has the length/amount of Connectrac Wire System been determined? Is this to be included under CLIN 0013 or elsewhere?

Answer: About 8 feet.

14. LABOR for CLIN 0014 is most likely more than 40 technician hours for the tasks involved. Do we reflect that by changing the quantity or would you like us to divide our FPP pricing by 40?

Answer: Bid as many hours as you think it will take to accomplish the job.

15. We are not clear if the scope of work is stating that there is existing conduit with pullstring above the ceiling for the cable path?

Answer: There is an existing conduit, but we found out that is no longer needed. In fact, we can have you put the rack and red cable termination in the LAN room rather than the office that was shown in the statement of work.

16. Is the jobsite accessible between 7am-4:30pm Monday through Friday?

Answer: The hours will need to be coordinated with the local office personnel. It will most likely be either 7-3:30, or 8-4:30.

17. Is this an active construction site? Are the walls currently open? Is there a general contractor onsite, and if so will other tasks be taking place simultanteously in the working space?

Answer: No this is not an active construction site. You will have to work around existing walls, which means you will have to be delicate on how you handle the install.

18. Are the cubicles in place? Are DSS personnel working at these desks?

Answer: The cubicles are currently in place, and the DSS personnel are working in these offices.

19. I was wondering if there is a site walk scheduled for this site in the coming days, I don’t see it in the solicitation.

Answer: I am planning for the Parsippany site walkthroughs April 24 from 8-11 am

21. Connectrac has many cabling solutions and varieties of product. Can you be specific on what Connectrac System is required for this bid and applicable quantities and lengths required of the components?

The RFP states that existing conduits will be used, so need guidance on how the Connectrac System will be utilized.

Answer: Connectrac is recommended, but not a final solution. If you feel that this is needed, then bid it. As far as length goes, we can all determine that during the site walk through.
