New PPTCF PDU & PDU Redundant Feeds

1. Project Introduction

The objective of this project is to execute a design-build contract to 1) install a new Power Distribution Unit (PDU) in the Information Technology Agency (ITA)’s Pentagon Primary Technology Control Facility (PPTCF), identified as activity A and 2) to provide redundant source of power to existing basement PDUs 5, 6, 14, and 19, identified as activity B.

Activity A: The new PDU for PPTCF will bring presence of commercial (normal) power in the space that only has mission critical power. This will enable relocation of ITA identified non-mission critical loads from mission critical distribution to normal power distribution, thus increasing the spare capacity on the mission critical distribution.

Activity B: Existing PDUs 5, 6, 14, and 19 serve key tenants and their mission continuity is a paramount concern. By providing a new Static Transfer Switch (STS) and a redundant source of power, PBMO will be able to enhance the overall system reliability.

2. Existing Conditions:

a. Activity A – New PPTCF PDU

1. There is no normal power presence in PPTCF.

2. PPTCF has existing mission critical PDUs (4R, 13R, and 22R) which are fed from an existing switchboard MDP-BE887 and another alternate source.

3. MDP-BE887 is a 1200A, 480/277V, 3P, 4W switchboard located in room BE887.

MDP-BE887 is fed from normal power switchgear with a 1200A draw-out type circuit breaker via 3 sets of 3-#600 MCM + 3-#600N + 3-#3/0G.

4. MDP-BE887 has an existing 400A, 480/277V spare breaker with adjustable trip unit.

b. Activity B: Redundant PDU Feeds

1. Feeders for Panel MDP-BE847-PDU have been run from C8BA Vault (BC840) to electrical closet BE845. However, the feeders have not been terminated on the Main Circuit Breaker (MCB) in panel MDP-BE847-PDU or at the Switchgear in C8BA vault.

(1) Any such clause is unenforceable against the Government.

(2) Neither the Government nor any Government authorized end user shall be deemed to have agreed to such clause by virtue of it appearing in the EULA, TOS, or similar legal instrument or agreement. If the EULA, TOS, or similar legal instrument or agreement is invoked through an ``I agree'' click box or other comparable mechanism (e.g., ``click-wrap'' or ``browse-wrap'' agreements), execution does not bind the Government or any Government authorized end user to such clause.

(3) Any such clause is deemed to be stricken from the EULA, TOS, or similar legal instrument or agreement.
