MEF TEMPORARY FENCING

SOLICITATION HQ0034-11-T-0039

Q1.

In regards to the MEF Fencing project, does the fence need to be crash rated and what crash rating requirement is needed?

A1. The fence does not need to be crash rated.

Q2.

Is there a layout drawing of where the fence will be installed?

A2. See Attachment A, MEF Temporary Fence Location Map

Q3.

Is the fence attached to building structure?

A3. No, the fence must be free standing.

Q4.

Are there power and/or utility lines in the area?

A4. None in the area.

Q5.

What type of lock is required on the gate?

A5. Yale Grade 1 series lock with interchangeable core.

Q6.

Is there landscaping/plants that may interfere with installation?

A6. There are plants in the area. The contractor is expected to minimize the destruction of the existing vegetation in the area. The plants in the area were planted with the expectation that there would be fencing installed at the prescribed areas.

Q7.

What type of equipment is allowed for such things as mixing concrete, or digging?

A7. Preferably hand held equipment, the least intrusive method.

Q8. Please provide more detail on footing.

A8. It is more likely for a contractor to hit a shallow utility (electrical conduit, IT, etc) before they would hit a spread footer. For the Northern Virginia area, freeze line is about 30" deep. The main fence columns most likely would not be any more than 18" deep unless PFPA is requiring K-12 Fence.
