STATEMENT OF WORK

2/1/2024

1) BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML), Research Technologies Section (RTS), Electron Microscopy Unit supports the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases (NIAID) investigators with various state-of-the-art microscopy techniques and technologies. Because of its high use and because the equipment is highly specialized, these electron microscopes must be always maintained in peak operating condition. RTS requires preventive service agreements on the Hitachi SU8000 II FE-SEM and Hitachi HT7800 High-resolution TEM scope with beam stopper, Pneumatic In/Out Control for object A and Motorized Z-axis.

These instruments require professional service from Hitachi certified and experienced service engineers who maintain the instruments in optimal condition for research. Original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts made and certified by Hitachi are required to keep the electron microscopes running at the optimum level. The purchase of this service agreement will allow for the continuous use of the Hitachi Microscopes and the support functions that it provides customers that use the RTS electron microscopy unit. If it were put out of action due to lack of maintenance or mechanical failure, the ability of the investigators to conduct their research would be severely handicapped. It is for this reason that a Service Agreement is essential.
