About this file
This is an architectural specification document for Delton Kellogg Schools in Delton, Michigan, prepared by GMB Architect + Engineer for the High School Locker Replacement project (A/E Project 5-4900). The project involves furnishing and installing steel lockers in the high school's athletic and physical education locker room areas. The scope of work requires replacement lockers to be installed on existing bases in the locations of current lockers, with all accessories, locks, and numbers included and ready for operational use. Two locker types are specified: heavy-duty ventilated lockers measuring 15 inches wide by 15 inches deep by 72 inches high for athletic locker rooms, and heavy-duty ventilated lockers measuring 10 inches wide by 15 inches deep by 72 inches high for physical education locker rooms, all in single-tier configuration with flat tops. The document references a first-floor plan dated June 10, 2019, and specifies that contractors must field-measure all locations and verify existing conditions prior to fabrication.
Acceptable manufacturers for the metal lockers include Republic Storage Systems, Inc., Lyon Metal Products, Incorporated, Penco Products, Interior/Medart, Hadrian, Inc., Art Metal Products, and DeBourgh. All lockers must comply with 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, with a minimum of 5 percent accessible lockers of each type dispersed throughout the installation. The specification requires mild annealed, cold-rolled steel construction with cadmium-plated or rust-retardant bolts, seven-stage phosphatization process, and baked enamel finish at 300 degrees for 30 minutes with color selected by the architect. All lockers must include polished aluminum number plates, interior shelving, hooks, heavy-duty hinges, and positive automatic pre-locking devices. Contractors are responsible for patching compromised walls with like materials, maintaining existing partition ratings, and coordinating all work with the site superintendent. A minimum two-year warranty against defects for materials and installation is required.
