Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs
PURCHASE DESCRIPTION
1. Statement of Need and Purpose: This upgrade for our Nikon inverted widefield microscope will allow us to capture two color images from our samples simultaneously at speeds much higher than confocal imaging.
2. Background Information and Objective: The ability of widefield imaging to capture at high frame rates usually comes with the tradeoff that only one color can be imaged at a time. To allow two-color imaging, we need to split the emitted light using dichroic mirrors and direct the two colors to two separate cameras to allow imaging at both wavelengths simultaneously. The requested adapter and software upgrade will facilitate this on a scope that we already have in the lab. The benefits to our work include real time imaging and higher throughput due to increased ability to use multiple labels with each sample.
3. Generic Name of Product: Two-camera mount and software upgrade
4. Purchase Description: Nikon Emission splitting device, software and PC workstation, multi-wavelength light source, filter sets and motoried emission wheel, transmitted lamphouse, and single band epi cubes.
5. Salient characteristics: The adapter requested must integrate with the Nikon widefield microscope currently in use in the lab, it must make use of a dichroic mirror to divide the emission light into the wavelengths to be captured, sending each wavelength to the appropriate camera. In addition, the software must control both cameras and integrate with the Nikon Elements software that currently runs other functions of the microscope.
6. Quantity: This request is for a two-camera adapter and software upgrade
7. Delivery Date: Within 30 days after receipt of order
8. Period of Performance: not applicable
9. Option(s): none
