A. STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW) -- SCOPE OF WORK
Background Information:
The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) console and a Deuterium Probe is needed to analyze samples that have been prepared using Site Specific Nuclear Isotope Fractionation by NMR (SNIF-NMR). The method involves measuring the isotopic ratios of the hydrogen of the ethanol that is either present in the sample or analytically derived therefrom. The ratios are then used to compare authentic and/or standard materials to samples of unknown or uncertain provenance.
The NMR console and Deuterium Probe shall include the following: Technical specifications:
1. The console and deuterium probe (including all components required to run an NMR experiment except the magnet) shall be able to excite and detect deuterium NMR signals while employing a fluorine-19 magnetic field lock.
2. The console shall be configured to accommodate both regular NMR probes and the included deuterium-direct-detect, flouring-19-lock probe.
3. The deuterium probe shall be configured to accept 10mm (1cm) diameter NMR tubes.
4. The console shall be capable of interfacing with the existing SNIF-NMR system.
5. The system shall be able to obtain a consistent and repeatable result.
6. A 400MHz NMR console with preamplifiers and components capable of interfacing with a 2H-detect, 19F-lock probe.
7. The system shall be compatible with the SNIF-NMR system. A SNIF-NMR system has been purchased from Eurofins. The new console and probe need to be integrated with the SNIF- NMR system for data processing and analysis.
8. All of this shall include any required training, installation and validation to ensure system is functional and up to the specifications needed to perform official methods based on the SNIF- NMR technique. All the components listed above shall be required to properly perform the method and they need to be integrated to ensure the quality of the data.
