Questions and Answers #1

Q1. How many cuts per year had been done in the past?

A1. The estimated quantity of service calls for lawn maintenance was 32. The actual quantity annually was about 22 but it could vary depending upon weather conditions. The frequency is high in spring and fall, slows to every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks in the heat of summer.

The COR generally calls when the grass is 4 1/2 to 5" but some weeds may be higher.

Q2. Are the services on call?

A2. All work under this contract will be performed on an on-call basis. After contract award, the COR will contact the contractor when services are required. The Statement of Work stipulates that the Contractor must be on the work-site within three days after being contacted and work must be completed within six days after being contacted.

Q3. Are there any access issues for Fort Lee? Who handles base access?

A3. The contractor shall be responsible for obtaining installation access, as required, for vehicles and personnel needed at the work site. Contractor personnel shall report to the

Defense Commissary Agency COR before performance of work. The contractor shall observe applicable personnel security directives in place at Fort Lee and the Defense

Commissary Agency, Fort Lee, Virginia.

Q4. Are there are requirements for pruning?

A4. No.

Q5. What is the total acreage?

A5. The total acreage is 17.4 acres for the entire campus which includes all land (parking lots, sidewalks, lawn, etc).

Q6. When does the solicitation close?

A6. The Closing Date and Time is March 25, 2013 at 4:00 PM local time.

Q7. Can an interested contractor come out to the grounds and take measurements?

A7. Yes, but, for security concerns, the contractor should please check in at the DeCA visitor desk.

Q8. Can the contractor’s submit other questions?

A8. Yes, in writing any time prior to 4:00 PM local time March 15, 2013(10 days prior to the

Closing Date and Time). Follow up questions may be asked until March 19, 2013 at 11:00

AM local time.

Q9. Where is the boundary as far as what grass must be serviced?

A9. It runs about 30 feet to the southwest of the entrance off of 40th Street. It then runs to this side of the woods all the way to the junction near where the bridge crosses over the run-off.

The Contractor picks up again near the pin oaks off of F Avenue.
