6.4.7 Testing/Report: The contractor shall fully test all installed cabling (using a Fluke meter or similar) and the contractor shall submit the cabling test report to the Government for review and approval.
o 10G Copper Testing: Must meet/comply with TIA TSB-155-A "Guidelines for the assessment and
Mitigation of Installed Cat 6 Cabling to Support 10GBASE-T". Primary Limiting Factor: Alien Crosstalk (ANEXT). The single biggest hurdle for 10GBASE-T on Cat 6 cabling is Alien Crosstalk.
This is the noise or interference induced onto a cable by other adjacent, "alien" cables in the same bundle or pathway. At the lower frequencies of 1G Ethernet, this was not a significant issue. At the
500 MHz required for 10G, it becomes the primary performance-limiting factor. Perform the following tests IAW TIA-528.2-D (Field Test Unit must be capable of testing up to at least 500MHz):
Insertion Loss (IL) Near-End Crosstalk (NEXT) Return Loss (RL) Attenuation to Crosstalk Ratio (Far-End) - (ACRF) Power Sum Alien Near-End Crosstalk (PSANEXT) Power Sum Alien Attenuation to Crosstalk Ratio (Far-End) - (PSAACRF) 10GBASE-T Cat 6 cables should never exceed 55 meters (180ft); if using Cat 6A, up to 100 meters is within spec. Always use CAT 6A.
6.4.8 Patch Cables: The contractor shall provide and deliver the following patch cables o Twenty blue patch cables and twenty red patch cables - Copper CAT6A, RJ45 end x 8’-0” long o Twenty blue patch cables and twenty red patch cables - Copper CAT6A, RJ45 end x 6’-0” long o Ten blue patch cables and ten red patch cables - Copper CAT6A, RJ45 end x 4’-0” long o Materials and connections shall match materials listed above.

6.5 Task 5 – Mechanical.
Rooms 1302, 1304, and 1305 require increased cooling to accommodate additional heat-generating equipment. To meet the additional cooling requirements, a new variable air volume (VAV) terminal box will need to be installed for rooms 1304 and 1305. The existing air handler (AHU-1) will need to be “re-sheaved” to achieve additional airflow.
New temperature sensors will need to be installed in Rooms 1304 and 1305 so that programming of the new VAV will allow both rooms to average temperatures for the cooling temperature setpoint. The new sensors will need to be connected to the Building Automation System (BAS) and graphics will need to be modified accordingly.
6.5.1 Air Handling Unit (AHU) Controls:
o The contractor shall update the AHU controls to ensure all VAVs are operating correctly and with the design airflows at supply registers. The existing AHU uses standard Trane Tracer SC equivalent software.
o The contractor shall disconnect VAV-1 associated ductwork feeding Room 1305.
o The contractor shall install a new VAV terminal box rated at 600 CFM for Rooms 1304 and 1305.
o The contractor shall repair or replace VAV-4 for Room 1302.
o The contractor shall replace the existing six-inch round supply duct to each diffuser in rooms 1302, 1304, and 1305 with an eight-inch round duct. Replace the six-inch round return ducting in all three rooms with an eight-inch round duct. The contractor shall replace supply air diffusers and return air grilles to accommodate 300 CFM for each of the rooms.
o The contractor shall install new temperature sensors in each of the rooms (1304 and 1305). Program new sensors to the new VAV controller such that each room maintains the required cooling setpoint based on an average temperature in each room.
o The contractor shall re-sheave AHU-1 to allow increased airflow to Rooms 1302, 1304, and 1305.
o The contractor shall perform Testing, Adjusting, Balancing (TAB) on the entire system, including
AHU-1 and all associated air distribution equipment. The TAB shall include all existing, new, and modified ducting.
o The contractor shall integrate all new equipment into AHU Controls and update graphics.
6.5.2 The contractor shall install new 1 ½ ton capacity “split system” air conditioning units for each room
1302, 1304, and 1305. Install all required electrical wiring, conduit, breakers, and disconnects to achieve this. New stand-alone thermostats will need to be installed in each of the three rooms. The air conditioning units will be integrated into the BAS. Units will be placed on concrete pads with electrical disconnects located outside of each room.
o Exterior equipment and materials shall be intended for exterior use and a temperature range of -30°F to
120°F.
o The contractor shall install three new split system air conditioning (A/C) units for each of the three rooms (1302, 1304, and 1305) with stand-alone thermostats.
o The contractor shall provide all electrical for the new split system A/C units, including conduit, wiring, and disconnects for exterior condensing units. Use the existing breaker panel to feed units.
