SPRC Technical Requirements

The Solider Performance Readiness Center (SPRC) is a dedicated training facility designed to generate lethal Soldiers who are physically fit and mentally tough to engage with and overmatch the enemy in multi-domain operations. Physical training facilities provide facilities and support services to meet the individual physical fitness, coordination, skills development, and training needs of military personnel.

This facility shall be 41,700 square feet (SF). The structure is to be rapid construction tensile fabric structure or comparable innovated structure. Overall construction time is also a priority. There are approximately 110 facilities set to be built over a span of 4 years. All spaces shall be heated and cooled to comply with UFC 3-410-01, unless otherwise specified. The building is separated into three functions:

Fitness/Rehab, Administration, and Utility. The following will outline the technical requirements.

Fitness/Rehab:

Fitness consists of four zones (approximate size in square feet) o Zone 0: Warm-up (2200 SF)

This zone can be enclosed within the building or can be a covered outdoor space.

If outdoors, consider climate control measures. (Heaters/cool mist fans) o Zone 1: Resistance (9900 SF) o Zone 2: Accessory (6400 SF) o Zone 3: Work Capacity/Agility (10300 SF)

These zones shall have clear span construction. There shall be no physical barrier between the zones to allow for proper flow.

The subfloor shall be concrete slab on grade.

Flooring shall be a dual-layer rubber flooring meeting industry standards for weight rooms and training facilities. Zone 3 will have a 70’ 21.3m x 82’ 25m (5,740 SF) synthetic turf area.

Double doors (6’-0”) shall be provided for egress and emergency exits as needed throughout.

Roll up style doors are encouraged to help provide natural light and cross ventilation in the fitness spaces.

Ceiling height in the Fitness area shall be a minimum of 14’ and exposed to the structure.

High volume/Low speed (HVLS) fans may be provided, but the minimum ceiling height listed is the minimum clearance height of the fan.

For safety reasons, lighting must be designed so that it does NOT result in bright points of light that could be in the eyes of the lifters.

Rehab consists of:

o Physical therapist office/private treatment, 2 (150 SF each) o Treatment spaces, 4 (120 SF each) o Rehabilitation space, 1 o Supply area, 1

Rehab ceiling height shall be 10’ minimum, with office space being a minimum of 9’. Acoustical tile is recommended.

Rehab area flooring shall be the same rubber flooring provided in the fitness module.

Storage space for fitness equipment shall be provided with minimum 3’-0” door and an 8’-0” wide rollup door.

Administration:

Module consists of:

o Offices, 12, minimum of 100 SF each, prefer a variety of sizes in the 140-100 range.

o Cubicles, 24, minimum of 64 SF each o Team room, 1 (400 SF) o Break room, 1 (400 SF) o Copy/supply room, 1 o Classrooms, 2 (600 SF) o Nursing mother’s room, 1

Provide two AV and technology enabled classrooms separated by foldable partition.

Each classroom shall accommodate 25 students.

Ceiling height shall be a minimum for 9’ with typical acoustical tile ceiling.

Flooring shall be carpet tile.

Interior walls shall be typical stud and gypsum wallboard construction.

Interior windows shall be provided in as many offices as possible to view the fitness areas.

Exterior windows shall be provided, when possible, for natural light.

All fixtures in restrooms are to be wall-hung. Also provide two showers with drying booths in both restrooms.

Provide dedicated space for Mechanical, Electrical, and Communication equipment. These spaces shall not be used for storage or other purposes. Limited to authorized personnel.

Ceilings may be exposed to structure above as necessary in these areas. If not, a minimum of 9’.

Janitor’s closet shall be in close proximity to restrooms. Include floor mop sink and storage.
