About this file
This is Project Addendum #01 dated October 8, 2020, issued by Commtech Design for Gull Lake Community Schools' Kellogg Elementary Technology Upgrades and Additions project located at 10100 E D Ave, Richland, Michigan 49083. The addendum addresses manufacturer substitutions, system specifications, and bidder inquiries regarding technology and security system installations. The project encompasses audio/visual systems (requiring Extron control systems and sound field systems), access control integration (utilizing the existing S2 system with new device additions), paging systems (Carehawk system), clock systems with NTP servers, fiber optic cabling (interior only), network cabling (Cat 6), security cameras with patch cords, and door hardware integration including card readers, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and latch retraction devices. The bid opening was scheduled for October 13, 2020, at 3:00 PM EDT via GoToMeeting. Bidders were permitted to submit bids for multiple categories under a single bid bond, and existing S2 system devices were to be integrated with new installations.
The addendum clarifies that approved manufacturers include Extron for classroom control systems and cabling manufacturers specified in Section 28 1600. Patch cords are required for AV systems and security contractor-provided cameras; fiber jumpers are not required. Door hardware items including latch retraction devices, electric strikes, and magnetic locks are to be provided by others, not the security integrator. The electrical contractor is responsible for providing and installing the FSR AV box. Existing card readers and electronic locks are to be turned over to the owner following demo work. Additional S2 system licensing is required to support new devices being added to the project, and the owner will purchase software outside the contractor's scope. The school district will not supply personal computers for administration software, and the NTP server can point to an internet-based device rather than requiring a dedicated server.

Questions;
1. Can I substitute Audio Enhancement or Lightspeed for the sound field systems at Gull Lake? What documentation do you require to evaluate?
Answer. These classrooms shall use the Extron System. See Spec 28 5350
2. Is Carehawk the only approved system for the paging?
Answer. Yes
3. TC 102 detail 10, the FSR AV box. Is this to be provided by cabling contractor or the electrician?
Answer. This box will be provided and installed by the electrical contractor and is not part of our project.
4. The NTP server for the clock system is software based. Can this be installed on the school’s server or do we need to provide our own?
Answer. This can point to an internet based NTP device.
5. Is the access control contractor responsible for providing the “assisted openers”, or do we just need to connect to them?
Answer. You do not have to provide them or install them. You need to integrate them and the interior buttons to the access control system
6. If we’re bidding multiple bid categories should we put them all on a single bid form with one bid bond that covers them all? Or do we need a separate bid form with separate bond for each bid category?
Answer. You can have one Bid Bond that covers any categories you are bidding.
We would eventually write you one contract if you won
7. Spec book on cat 6 cable reads Superior Essex. Prints are showing General cable is it
General?
Answer. See specifications for allowed cabling manufacturers 28 1600
8. Do we include patch cords?
Answer. Patch cords are required of the Security contractor for the cameras and other security devices. AV systems requires all patch cords.
9. Do we include fiber jumpers?
Answer. No
10. Print TC104 Backbone fiber Note 2 reads fiber between buildings? is there outdoor fiber?
Answer. There is no outdoor rated fiber in this project.
11. What is to be done with the door 100B card reader? Turn over to owner? Re-use?
Answer. Turn it over to the owner.
Gull Lake Schools - Kellogg Elem - Technology Upgrades - Addendum 01 10-8-2020 3
12. Any other demo work required for door 100B, such as wire demo?
Answer. Yes, demo the wiring for this card reader and electronic lock.
13. Are the intercom (IC) and latch retraction (LR) shown on the interior vestibule door, near Office 128, existing to be integrated/re-worked with the new system?
Answer. They are already on the S2 system so they will not require
14. How many other existing doors/strikes/readers that need to be integrated?
Answer. See floorplans for known existing devices. These are on the S2 system, so they do not need any changes other than making sure all new and existing work together.
15. What is the thought on how door 204 is supposed to operate with a Mag Lock and an Electric Strike?
Answer. Mag lock is meant to be used in an emergency within the office to lock that door so that an angry person could not exit the office.
16. How are doors 203C/203D to operate with Mag Locks and an Electric Strike, as well as with a reader and key switch?
Answer. See questions 15
17. With a double-door opening (example doors 203A and 203B), requiring door contacts only, can the two sets of door contacts be on the same wire back to the control panels?
Or does each door require individual wires back to the control panels?
Answer. Yes, two door contacts can be in the same wire
18. Are any Request to Exit devices, Release Buttons, or Wave Switches required anywhere in the school? I don't see any on the prints, but they are listed in the specs.
Answer. No Request to Exit devices are required. The wave switch is not required either.
19. Will the school be supplying the PCs for administration software? Or does the winning bidder need to supply them?
Answer. We don’t believe any PC’s are required to be provided by the contractor for any of the systems.
20. Can you please provide an About Page from the existing S2 system?
Answer. That is not available.
21. Will the existing S2 controller stay at its current licensing level?

22. Can you please provide an As-Built report from the existing S2 system?
Answer. That is not available.
23. Are additional years of software coverage desired for the S2 controller?
Answer. See specs for software requirements and dates for new equipment.
Owner will purchase software outside of the software specified in the Access Control Portion of the project
Gull Lake Schools - Kellogg Elem - Technology Upgrades - Addendum 01 10-8-2020 4
24. Please confirm that electric latch retraction, strikes, and mag locks are provided by others, not the security integrator.
Answer. The Latch Retraction, strikes and Mag locks are provided by others
25. At Door 203C and 204 both a maglock and electric strike are indicated. Will in fact both devices exist?
Answer. Yes, see above
26. How many card readers will require single gang versus mullion mounted readers?
Answer. Not known right now. Verify in field prior to ordering.
27. TC502 note 1 says “There are a few existing doors that have electric strikes and card readers, contractor shall integrate these to the updated system.” Can you provide details on which doors have existing strikes and card readers? Are these doors connected to an existing S2 panel?
Answer. These are shown on the drawings. They are already on the S2 system, so they do not require re-wiring or new panels. Just software integration of the entire system.
28. Section 100 (drawing TC601A) doesn’t show any access control other an existing S2 micronode in IDF-2 and removing a card reader. Are there existing card readers and strikes/EL’s in this section? A micronode can only control 2 doors – based on the rest of the access control drawings for the new construction areas, there should be several door contacts and/or card reader doors in this section
Answer. Provide panels as required to support connection of all devices shown on the floorplans and details.
29. Can you provide the license code for the existing S2 controller, and/or the number of portal licenses on the existing system along with how many portal licenses are currently in use?
Answer. That is not available.
30. On the clock system for Kellogg Elementary- on print TC101 the clock schedule shows clocks and mounts only but does not call out what series is needed for the master clock.
Do we need to supply the master clock and if so, what series is that?
Answer. See Connectivity Code 12 and 13 on TC102.
Sincerely, Bret Emerson
