1. This technical directive (TD) defines a quantitative angular allowance for the correct installation position of the lever arm spherical bearing races with respect to horizontal due to Variable Stator Vane (VSV) actuation lever arms being received from the supply system with incorrectly installed bearing races (Figure 1 ). This TD also directs a one-time inspection of installed shipboard VSV actuation lever arm bearings. Report any bearing position(s) which are out-of-tolerance per the Records Affected section using Enclosure (1). Take enclosure
(1) for action, as required.

ENCLOSURES:
(1) LM2500 VSV LEVER ARM BEARING POSITION CHECK REPORT
DOCUMENTATION AFFECTED:
Not Applicable
PURPOSE:
This technical directive (TD) defines a quantitative angular allowance for the correct installation position of the lever arm spherical bearing races with respect to horizontal due to Variable Stator Vane (VSV) actuation lever arms being received from the supply system with incorrectly installed bearing races (Figure 1). This TD also directs a one-time inspection of installed shipboard VSV actuation lever arm bearings. Report any bearing position(s) which are out-of-tolerance per the Records Affected section using Enclosure (1).

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Comply with reference (a), "Performance of Maintenance Within the Enclosure."
2. Comply with Navy Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Program Manual for Forces Afloat, OPNAVINST 5100.19 series.
NOTE
• VSV Lever Arms with rubber bearing boots installed were manufactured by General
Electric and have been verified as having the bearing races correctly installed.
• Annotate in the Notes/Comments section of Enclosure (1) and comply with RECORDS
AFFECTED section.
3. Ref (b) states, "For replacement slot loaded bearings, position bearing such that loading slot in outer face is aligned with axis PA facing outboard of GG, and on the opposite side of actuation lever raised pads. Raised pad sides of lever arm are installed facing the engine." See Figure 2. Ref (b) provides no angular specification for positioning the slot with respect to the lever arm.
4. This GTB defines 0°±10° off of axis PA (bottom surface of lever arm) as the tolerance for this position. Using Figures 3, 4, and 5 as a guide, inspect the position of all slot loaded bearings (IGV through stage 6, and VSV feedback cable bearing located between IGV and stage 1 stators on both arms), with respect to the bottom surface of the lever arm.
5. Record any bearing that are out of tolerance in Enclosure (1).
6. The technical point of contact is Mr. Marc Calabrese, NSWCCD-SSES 934, COM: (215) 897-7303, DSN: 443-
