DWG. #VIBRATION SWITCH
ADJUSTMENT
ADJUST THE SWITCH SO THAT DURING FULL SPEED START-UP AND UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, THE CONTACTS DO NOT TRIP.
FIRST, WITH THE MOTOR OFF, TURN THE ADJUSTMENT SCREW COUNTER-CLOCKWISE (MORE SENSITIVE DIRECTION) UNTIL THE SWITCH TRIPS. NEXT, TURN THE ADJUSTMENT SCREW CLOCKWISE 1/8 TURN (LESS SENSITIVE DIRECTION). RESET THE SWITCH BY DEPRESSING THE PUSH-BUTTON RESET LOCATED ON TOP OF THE SWITCH. START THE MOTOR ON FULL SPEED. IF THE MOTOR TRIPS THE SWITCH, THEN TURN THE ADJUSTMENT SCREW CLOCKWISE AN ADDITIONAL 1/8 TURN. RESET THE SWITCH AND START THE
MOTOR AGAIN. REPEAT THE ABOVE PROCEDURE UNTIL THE MOTOR CONTINUES TO RUN.

Contractor shall size transformers, breakers, fuses, and circuits according to Magnetic Levitation specifications, manufactures recommendations, and the National Electric Code(NFPA70). The transformers will meet the following requirements as well:
A. General purpose dry type transformers.
1. Unless otherwise specified, dry type transformers shall be in accordance with NEMA, NEC and as shown on the drawings. Transformers shall be UL listed or labeled.
2. Dry type transformers shall have the following features:
a. Self-cooled by natural convection, isolating windings, indoor, dry type.
Autotransformers will not be accepted.
b. Rating and winding connections shall be as shown on the drawings.
c. Transformers shall have copper windings.
d. Ratings shown on the drawings are for continuous-duty without the use of cooling fans.
e. Insulation systems:
1. Transformers 30 KVA and larger: UL rated 220 degrees C system having an average maximum rise by resistance of 150 degrees C in a maximum ambient of 40 degrees C.
2. Transformers below 30 KVA: Same as for 30 KVA and larger or UL rated 185 degrees C system having an average maximum rise by resistance of 115 degrees C in a maximum ambient of 40 degrees C.
B. Core and coil assemblies:
1. Rigidly braced to withstand the stresses caused by short circuit currents and rough handling during shipment.
2. Cores shall be grain oriented, non-aging, and silicon steel.
3. Coils shall be continuous windings without splices except for taps.
4. Coil loss and core loss shall be minimum for efficient operation.
5. Primary and secondary tap connections shall be brazed or pressure type.
6. Coil windings shall have end fillers or tie downs for maximum strength.
C. Certified sound levels determined in accordance with NEMA, shall not exceed the following:
Transformer Rating Sound Level 0 – 9 KVA 40db
10 – 50 KVA 45db 51 – 150 KVA 50db 151 – 300 KVA 55dB 301 – 500 KVA 60dB
D. Single phase transformers rated 15 KVA through 25 KVA shall have two, 5 percent full capacity taps below normal rated primary voltage. All transformers rated 30 KVA and larger shall have two, 2-1/2 percent full capacity taps above, and four, 2-1/2 percent full capacity taps below normal rated primary voltage.
E. Core assemblies shall be grounded to their enclosures by adequate flexible ground straps.
F. Enclosures:
1. Not less than code gage steel.
2. Outdoor enclosures shall be NEMA 3R.
3. Temperature rise at hottest spot shall conform to NEMA Standards, and shall not bake and peel off the enclosure paint after the transformer has been placed in service.
4. Ventilation openings shall prevent accidental access to live components.
5. Thoroughly clean and paint enclosure at the factory with manufacturer's prime coat and standard finish.
G. Standard NEMA features and accessories including ground pad, lifting provisions and nameplate with the wiring diagram and sound level indicated on it.
H. Dimensions and configurations shall conform to the spaces designated for their installations.
I. Efficiency and harmonics.
1. Transformers shall be designed to withstand the overheating effects caused by harmonics resulting from non-linear (non-sinusoidal) loads such as office equipment using solid-state switching power supplies (i.e. computers, laser printers and copiers).
2. Copper coils’ neutrals shall carry at least 200% of normal phase current.
3. Minimum efficiency designed to supply circuits with a harmonic profile equal to or less than a K factor of 13 without exceeding specified temperature rise. Transformers with K factor of 13 shall be provided, if K factor is not shown on contract drawings. Table below applies to K-13 transformers only.
