24a. Shaw Contract is the industry leader in the compounding and recycling of thermoplastic materials used in carpet tile and 6’ carpet. EcoSolution Q nylon with 25% recycled content, and EcoWorx 100% recyclable thermoplastic polyolefin backing are unmatched in the industry for indoor air quality and ease of recycling. This backing system was designed for environmentally conscious installations. The performance features are equal to PVC and backed by a lifetime warranty. The total weight, however, is lighter, reducing the raw material required to recycle at the end of its projected 10 to 15 year life cycle. The lower weight also reduces transportation costs and lowers the carbon monoxide emissions per unit shipped. Shaw will recycle the product at the end of its useful life and reclaim the nylon face to go back into nylon yarn and recycle the backing directly into more EcoWorx backing. The product may be endlessly recycled.
