GREAT ONYX JOB CORPS CIVILIAN CONSERVATION CENTER
SECTION 010150
STATEMENT OF WORK/GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
PART 1 – SUMMARY OF WORK
1.1 DESCRIPTION
A. Work for this project requires the Contractor to be responsible for supplying all labor, materials, equipment, utilities, miscellaneous items, freight and delivery and all necessary valid licenses for the work summarized as follows:
1. Building 1 Administration Roof.
2. Building 4 Raider Dorm Roof and Ceiling.
3. Building 7 Shirley Dorm Roof and Ceiling.
4. Building 11-Ramger Office Roof.
1.2 LOCATION
A. Great Onyx (GRO): This project is located at the Great Onyx Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center located 40 of miles from Bowling Green, KY in Warren County.
The address is 3115 Ollie Ridge Road Mammoth Cave, KY 42259. Driving instructions can be obtained from the Center by calling (270)286-1022.
1.3 PROJECT SCHEDULING
A. Work hours for this project are between 8:00 AM-4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
1.4 POINT OF CONTACT

1.5 USE OF PREMISES
A. Confine constructions operations to immediate area of work. Do not disturb portions of Project site beyond areas in which the Work is indicated.
B. Government will occupy site and buildings during entire construction period. Cooperate with Government during construction operations to minimize conflicts and facilitate Government usage. Perform the work so as not to interfere with Government's day-to-day operations.
C. Keep driveways, parking areas, loading areas, and entrances to buildings clear at all times and available to Government, Government's employees, and emergency vehicles.

walkways, corridors, or other occupied or used facilities without written permission from Government and authorities having jurisdiction.
1.6 WORK RESTRICTIONS
A. Smoking is not permitted within the buildings or within 25 feet (8 m) of entrances, operable windows, or outdoor air intakes.
1.7 PERMITS (NOT USED)
1.8 SCHEDULE OF ITEMS
A. Schedule of Items: The project Schedule of Items includes several sections to organize the work into Base Items and Optional Items.
1. Provide pricing for all items listed in the Schedule of Items.
2. Contract award will be made for all Base Items.
B. Base Items (BI):
1. Base Item No. 1- Administration Roof.
a. Measurement: Contractor shall verify all quantities and field conditions.
b. Payment: The contract lump sum price as shown in the Schedule of Items includes all materials, equipment, labor and incidentals to:
1) Remove existing asphalt shingles, underlayment, drip edge, flashing/boots, accessories, and properly dispose of off-site.
2) Contractor to inspect soundness of all existing materials prior to installing new materials. Contractor must walk roof with Center POC prior to placement of new roof materials.
3) Install new underlayment and continuous drip-edge. Drip-edge color shall be selected by the Contracting Officer (CO), from the manufacturer’s full color palette.
4) Install all trim, roof penetration flashing/boots, accessories, and fasteners per manufacturer’s recommendations.
5) Install ridge vents along full-length of ridge according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
6) Install standing seam metal roof. Color shall be selected by the CO, from the manufacturer’s full color palette.
7) Seal all penetrations with butyl based caulking.
8) Install new gutters and leaf covers with downspouts. Color shall be selected by the CO from the manufacturer’s full color palette.
2. Base Item No. 2- Building 4 Raider Dorm Roof and Ceiling.

b. Payment: The contract lump sum price as shown in the Schedule of Items includes all materials, equipment, labor and incidentals to:
1) Remove existing asphalt shingles, WHERE DESIGNATED, underlayment, drip edge, flashing/boots, accessories, and properly dispose of off-site.
2) Contractor to inspect soundness of all existing materials prior to installing new materials.
3) Install new underlayment and continuous drip-edge. Drip-edge color shall be selected by the Contracting Officer (CO), from the manufacturer’s full color palette.

b. Payment: The contract each price as shown in the Schedule of Items includes all materials, equipment, labor and incidentals to:
1) Replacement of 1 ea-4 ft by 8 ft sheathing identified by the contractor and the Center POC after inspection. This would be above and beyond the quantity identified for replacement in the plans.

PART 3 – SUBMITTAL PROCEDURES
4.1 DEFINITIONS
A. Action Submittals: Written and graphic information that requires Government approval.
B. Informational Submittals: Written information that does not require Government approval. Submittals may be rejected for not complying with requirements.
4.2 PROCEDURES
A. Contractor Responsibilities
1. Review each submittal and check for compliance with the Contract Documents.
2. Highlight, encircle, or otherwise identify deviations from the Contract Documents on submittals.
3. Include the following information on label or cover sheet for processing and recording action taken:
a. Project name.
b. Date.
c. Name and address of Contractor.

d. Name of manufacturer.
e. Unique identifier, including revision number.
f. Number and title of appropriate Specification Section.
g. Drawing number and detail references, as appropriate.
h. Date of Contractor’s approval.
i. Statement certifying that submittal has been reviewed, checked, and approved by the Contractor for compliance with the Contract Documents.
4. The Government will not review submittals that do not bear Contractor's approval and will return them without action.
5. Unless additional copies are required for final submittal, and unless the CO observes noncompliance with provisions of the Contract Documents, initial submittal may serve as final submittal.
6. Only final submittals with mark indicating action taken by Government are to be used for construction.
7. Submittals not required by the Contract Documents will not be reviewed and may be discarded.
B. Processing Time: Time for review shall commence on CO's receipt of submittal.
1. Initial Review: Government will review initial submittal within 10 working days.
Additional time may be needed if processing must be delayed to permit coordination with subsequent submittals. CO will advise Contractor when a submittal being processed must be delayed for coordination.
2. Resubmittals: If resubmittal is necessary, it will be processed in same timeframe as initial submittal.
4.3 ACTION SUBMITTALS
A. Prepare and submit Action Submittals required in the Technical Specifications in this contract, if applicable, and as indicated at the end of this subsection.
1. Submit two copies of each submittal, unless otherwise indicated. CO will return one copy. Mark up and retain one returned copy as a Project Record Document.
Electronic submission of PDFs is an acceptable alternative to paper submission.
B. Collect information into a single submittal for each element of construction and type of product or equipment.
1. Mark each copy of each submittal to show which products and options are applicable.
2. Include the following information, as applicable:
a. Manufacturer's written recommendations.
b. Manufacturer's product specifications.
c. Manufacturer's installation instructions.
d. Manufacturer's catalog cuts.
e. Wiring diagrams showing factory-installed wiring.
f. Compliance with recognized trade association standards.

g. Compliance with recognized testing agency standards.
C. Required Action Submittals
1. Product Data: refer to technical specifications
2. Window Product Data, samples as required
3. Siding Product Data, samples as required.
4. Shingle Product Data, samples as required.
5. Roofing system warranty and schedule for system inspections for the warranty per specification.
6. Product data and color samples for each paint color.
7. Product data for vents, drip edge, underlayment, facia, ridge vent, curbs, and flexible vent flashing.
8. Product data for 5 inch rain gutter, cover, and downspouts.
9. Location map of downspouts proposed and existing locations.
10. Product data for sheetrock, primer, paint, texture.
11. Proposed Protection Measures: Submit report, including Drawings, that indicates the measures proposed for protecting individuals and property. Indicate proposed locations and construction of barriers.
12. Construction Schedule.
13. Closeout documents listed in specs. O&M, final warranties.
4.4 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS
A. Prepare and submit Informational Submittals required in the Technical Specifications in this contract, if applicable, and as indicated at the end of this subsection.
1. Submit one copy of each submittal, unless otherwise indicated. CO will not return copy. Electronic submission of PDFs is an acceptable alternative to paper submission.
2. Provide a statement that includes signature of entity responsible for preparing certification.
B. Required Informational Submittals:
1. Predemolition photographs or video.
2. Accident prevention plan.
PART 3 – TEMPORARY FACILITIES AND CONTROLS
5.1 USE OF UTILITIES

A. Utilities: Use of Government existing facilities will be permitted without metering and without payment of use charges, as long as facilities are cleaned and maintained in an acceptable condition. At Substantial Completion, restore these facilities to condition existing before initial use. The following are available for use by the contractor: water, and electrical power services. The following are not available: telephone service.
5.2 SANITARY FACILITIES
A. Sanitary facilities are not available for use by the Contractor.
5.3 STAGING AREAS
A. Coordinate on-site staging and storage requirements with the Center Point of Contact or the Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
5.4 CONSTRUCTION WASTE DISPOSAL FACILITIES
A. Provide waste-collection containers in sizes adequate to handle waste from construction operations. Containerize and clearly label hazardous, dangerous, or unsanitary waste materials separately from other waste.
5.5 SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
A. Environmental Protection: Contractor shall provide protection, operate temporary facilities, and conduct construction in ways and by methods that comply with environmental regulations and that minimize possible air, waterway, and subsoil contamination or pollution or other undesirable effects.
B. Barricades, Warning Signs, and Lights: Comply with the national or state Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) for erecting structurally adequate barricades, paint with appropriate colors, graphics, and warning signs/lights to inform personnel and public of possible hazard.
C. Fire Protection.
1. Store combustible materials in containers in fire-safe locations.
2. Maintain unobstructed access to fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, fire-protection facilities, stairways, and other access routes for firefighting. Prohibit smoking in hazardous fire-exposure areas.
3. Supervise welding operations, combustion-type temporary heating units, and similar sources of fire ignition.
PART 4 – EXECUTION REQUIREMENTS
6.1 EXAMINATION

A. Before beginning work, examine areas and document existing conditions. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. Proceeding with the Work indicates acceptance of surfaces and conditions.
B. Field verify all new and existing dimensions affecting the work of this contract before ordering products.
C. Immediately on discovery of the need for clarification of the Contract Documents, submit a request for information to CO. Include a detailed description of problem encountered, together with recommendations for changing the Contract Documents.
6.2 INSTALLATION
A. Locate the Work and components of the Work accurately, in correct alignment and elevation to fit with existing construction.
B. Make vertical work plumb and make horizontal work level.
C. Install per manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations.
6.3 PROGRESS CLEANING
A. Clean Project site and work areas daily, including common areas. Dispose of materials lawfully.
1. Comply with NFPA 241 requirements for removal of combustible waste materials and debris.
2. Do not hold materials more than 7 days during normal weather or 3 days if the temperature is expected to rise above 80 deg F (27 deg C).
B. Burying or burning waste materials on-site will not be permitted. Washing waste materials down sewers or into waterways will not be permitted.
6.4 PROTECTION OF INSTALLED CONSTRUCTION
A. Provide protection and maintain conditions that ensure installed Work does not get damaged or deteriorated prior to Substantial Completion.
6.5 CORRECTION OF THE WORK
A. Repair or remove and replace defective construction. Restore damaged substrates and finishes.
1. Repairing includes replacing defective parts, refinishing damaged surfaces, touching up with matching materials, and properly adjusting operating equipment.

PART 5 – CLOSEOUT PROCEDURES
7.1 SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION
A. Definition of Substantial Completion: The Date certified by the CO when construction is sufficiently complete, in accordance with the Contract Documents, so the Government can occupy or utilize the Work or designated portion thereof for the use for which it is intended, as expressed in the Contract Documents.
B. Preliminary Procedures: Before requesting inspection for determining date of Substantial Completion, complete the following. List items below that are incomplete in request.
1. Prepare a list of items to be completed and corrected (punch list), the value of items on the list, and reasons why the Work is not complete.
2. Advise the CO of pending insurance changeover requirements.
3. Submit specific warranties, workmanship bonds, final certifications, and similar documents.
4. Obtain and submit releases permitting Government unrestricted use of the Work and access to services and utilities.
5. Deliver tools, spare parts, extra materials, and similar items to location designated by Government. Label with manufacturer's name and model number where applicable.
6. Complete startup testing of systems.
7. Submit changeover information related to Government occupancy, use, operation, and maintenance.
8. Complete final cleaning requirements, including touchup painting.
9. Touch up and otherwise repair and restore marred exposed finishes to eliminate visual defects.
C. Inspection: Submit a written request for inspection for Substantial Completion. On receipt of request, CO will either proceed with inspection or notify Contractor of unfulfilled requirements. CO will prepare the Certificate of Substantial Completion after inspection or will notify Contractor of items, either on Contractor's list or additional items identified by CO, that must be completed or corrected before certificate will be issued.
1. Reinspection: Request reinspection when the Work identified in previous inspections as incomplete is completed or corrected.
2. Results of completed inspection will form the basis of requirements for Final Completion.
7.2 FINAL COMPLETION
A. Preliminary Procedures: Before requesting final inspection for determining date of Final Completion, complete the following:

1. Submit certified copy of CO’s Substantial Completion inspection list of items to be completed or corrected (punch list), endorsed and dated by CO. The certified copy of the list shall state that each item has been completed or otherwise resolved for acceptance.
2. Submit evidence of final, continuing insurance coverage complying with insurance requirements.
3. Instruct Government personnel in operation, adjustment, and maintenance of products, equipment, and systems.
4. Submit all closeout documentation.
B. Inspection: Submit a written request for final inspection for acceptance. On receipt of request, CO will either proceed with inspection or notify Contractor of unfulfilled requirements. CO will prepare a final Certificate for Payment after inspection or will notify Contractor of construction that must be completed or corrected before certificate will be issued.
1. Reinspection: Request reinspection when the Work identified in previous inspections as incomplete is completed or corrected.
7.3 LIST OF INCOMPLETE ITEMS (PUNCH LIST)
A. Preparation: Submit two copies of list. Include name and identification of each space and area affected by construction operations for incomplete items and items needing correction including, if necessary, areas disturbed by Contractor that are outside the limits of construction.
7.4 FINAL CLEANING
A. General: Provide final cleaning. Conduct cleaning and waste-removal operations to comply with local laws and ordinances and Federal and local environmental and antipollution regulations.
B. Cleaning Agents: Use cleaning materials and agents recommended by manufacturer or fabricator of the surface to be cleaned. Do not use cleaning agents that are potentially hazardous to health or property or that might damage finished surfaces.
C. Complete the following cleaning operations before requesting inspection for certification of Substantial Completion for entire Project or for a portion of Project:
1. Clean Project site, yard, and grounds, in areas disturbed by construction activities, including landscape development areas, of rubbish, waste material, litter, and other foreign substances.
2. Remove tools, construction equipment, machinery, and surplus material from Project site.
3. Touch up and otherwise repair and restore marred, exposed finishes and surfaces.
Replace finishes and surfaces that cannot be satisfactorily repaired or restored or that already show evidence of repair or restoration.

D. Remove waste materials from Project site and dispose of lawfully.

SECTION 024119
SELECTIVE DEMOLITION
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. Section Includes:
1. Demolition and removal of selected portions of building or structure.
2. Demolition and removal of selected site elements.
3. Salvage of existing items to be reused or recycled.
1.2 MATERIALS OWNERSHIP
A. Unless otherwise indicated to remain as Government Property, all demolition waste becomes property of Contractor.
B. Historic items, relics, antiques, and similar objects including, but not limited to, cornerstones and their contents, commemorative plaques and tablets, and other items of interest or value to Owner that may be uncovered during demolition remain the property of Owner.
1. Carefully salvage in a manner to prevent damage and promptly return to Owner.
1.3 SUBMITTALS
A. Action Submittal-Proposed Protection Measures: Submit report, including Drawings, that indicates the measures proposed for protecting individuals and property. Indicate proposed locations and construction of barriers.
B. Action Submittal-Schedule of selective demolition activities with starting and ending dates for each activity.
C. Informational Submittal-Predemolition photographs or video.
1.4 FIELD CONDITIONS
A. Owner will occupy portions of building immediately adjacent to selective demolition area.
Conduct selective demolition so Owner's operations will not be disrupted.
B. Conditions existing at time of inspection for bidding purpose will be maintained by Owner as far as practical.
1. Before selective demolition, Notify the CO 72 hours in advance, especially:

a. Each roof and clerestory demolition start.
b. Moving/Demolition of the fiber optic service on Building 19
C. Notify Architect of discrepancies between existing conditions and Drawings before proceeding with selective demolition.
D. Hazardous Materials: It is not expected that hazardous materials will be encountered in the Work.
1. Hazardous materials will be removed by Owner before start of the Work.
2. If suspected hazardous materials are encountered, do not disturb; immediately notify the
CO.
E. Storage or sale of removed items or materials on-site is not permitted.
F. Utility Service: Maintain existing utilities indicated to remain in service and protect them against damage during selective demolition operations.
1. Maintain fire-protection facilities in service during selective demolition operations.
G. Arrange selective demolition schedule so as not to interfere with Owner's operations.
1.5 WARRANTY
A. Existing Warranties: Remove, replace, patch, and repair materials and surfaces cut or damaged during selective demolition, by methods and with materials and using approved contractors so as not to void existing warranties.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
A. Regulatory Requirements: Comply with governing EPA notification regulations before beginning selective demolition. Comply with hauling and disposal regulations of authorities having jurisdiction.
B. Standards: Comply with ANSI/ASSP A10.6 and NFPA 241.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Verify that utilities have been disconnected and capped before starting selective demolition operations.

B. Perform an engineering survey of condition of building to determine whether removing any element might result in structural deficiency or unplanned collapse of any portion of structure or adjacent structures during selective building demolition operations.
C. Inventory and record the condition of items to be removed and salvaged.
3.2 PREPARATION
A. Refrigerant: Before starting demolition, remove refrigerant from mechanical equipment according to 40 CFR 82 and regulations of authorities having jurisdiction.
3.3 UTILITY SERVICES AND MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
A. Existing Services/Systems to Remain: Maintain services/systems indicated to remain and protect them against damage.
B. Existing Services/Systems to Be Removed, Relocated, or Abandoned: Locate, identify, disconnect, and seal or cap off utility services and mechanical/electrical systems serving areas to be selectively demolished.
1. Arrange to shut off utilities with utility companies.
2. If services/systems are required to be removed, relocated, or abandoned, provide temporary services/systems that bypass area of selective demolition and that maintain continuity of services/systems to other parts of building.
3. Disconnect, demolish, and remove fire-suppression systems, plumbing, and HVAC systems, equipment, and components indicated on Drawings to be removed.
a. Piping to Be Removed: Remove portion of piping indicated to be removed and cap or plug remaining piping with same or compatible piping material.
b. Piping to Be Abandoned in Place: Drain piping and cap or plug piping with same or compatible piping material and leave in place.
c. Equipment to Be Removed: Disconnect and cap services and remove equipment.
d. Equipment to Be Removed and Reinstalled: Disconnect and cap services and remove, clean, and store equipment; when appropriate, reinstall, reconnect, and make equipment operational.
e. Equipment to Be Removed and Salvaged: Disconnect and cap services and remove equipment and deliver to Owner.
f. Ducts to Be Removed: Remove portion of ducts indicated to be removed and plug remaining ducts with same or compatible ductwork material.
g. Ducts to Be Abandoned in Place: Cap or plug ducts with same or compatible ductwork material and leave in place.
3.4 PROTECTION
A. Temporary Protection: Provide temporary barricades and other protection required to prevent injury to people and damage to adjacent buildings and facilities to remain.
B. Temporary Shoring: Design, provide, and maintain shoring, bracing, and structural supports as required to preserve stability and prevent movement, settlement, or collapse of construction and

finishes to remain, and to prevent unexpected or uncontrolled movement or collapse of construction being demolished.
C. Remove temporary barricades and protections where hazards no longer exist.
3.5 SELECTIVE DEMOLITION
A. General: Demolish and remove existing construction only to the extent required by new construction and as indicated. Use methods required to complete the Work within limitations of governing regulations and as follows:
1. Neatly cut openings and holes plumb, square, and true to dimensions required. Use cutting methods least likely to damage construction to remain or adjoining construction.
Use hand tools or small power tools designed for sawing or grinding, not hammering and chopping. Temporarily cover openings to remain.
2. Cut or drill from the exposed or finished side into concealed surfaces to avoid marring existing finished surfaces.
3. Do not use cutting torches until work area is cleared of flammable materials. At concealed spaces, such as duct and pipe interiors, verify condition and contents of hidden space before starting flame-cutting operations. Maintain portable fire-suppression devices during flame-cutting operations.
4. Maintain fire watch during and for at least 2 hours after flame-cutting operations.
5. Locate selective demolition equipment and remove debris and materials so as not to impose excessive loads on supporting walls, floors, or framing.
6. Dispose of demolished items and materials promptly off site.
B. Site Access and Temporary Controls: Conduct selective demolition and debris-removal operations to ensure minimum interference with roads, streets, walks, walkways, and other adjacent occupied and used facilities.
C. Removed and Salvaged Items:
1. Clean salvaged items.
2. Pack or crate items after cleaning. Identify contents of containers.
3. Store items in a secure area until delivery to Owner.
4. Transport items to Owner's storage area on-site designated by CO.
5. Protect items from damage during transport and storage.
D. Removed and Reinstalled Items:
1. Clean and repair items to functional condition adequate for intended reuse.
2. Pack or crate items after cleaning and repairing. Identify contents of containers.
3. Protect items from damage during transport and storage.
4. Reinstall items in locations indicated. Comply with installation requirements for new materials and equipment. Provide connections, supports, and miscellaneous materials necessary to make item functional for use indicated.
E. Existing Items to Remain: Protect construction indicated to remain against damage and soiling during selective demolition. When permitted by Architect, items may be removed to a suitable, GREAT ONYX JOB CORPS CCC 024119 - 5 protected storage location during selective demolition and cleaned and reinstalled in their original locations after selective demolition operations are complete.
3.6 CLEANING
A. Remove demolition waste materials from Project site and dispose of them in an EPA-approved construction and demolition waste landfill acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction.
1. Do not allow demolished materials to accumulate on-site.
2. Remove and transport debris in a manner that will prevent spillage on adjacent surfaces and areas.
B. Burning: Do not burn demolished materials.

PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. This Section includes factory-formed and field-assembled, metal roof panels.
B. See Division 7 Section "Sheet Metal Flashing and Trim".
1.2 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
A. Wind-Uplift Resistance: Comply with UL 580 for wind-uplift resistance class.
B. Structural Performance: Capable of withstanding the effects of gravity loads and the wind and snow loads for the location in accordance with the International Building Code and the state of Kentucky amendments based on testing according to ASTM E 1592. Comply with the following loads and stresses unless code requirements are greater:
1. Wind Loads: Minimum design wind of 18 lbf/sq. ft. acting inward or outward.
2. Snow Loads: 50 lbf/sq. ft.
3. Deflection Limits: Vertical deflections no greater than 1/240 of the span.
C. Seismic Performance: Provide metal roof panel assemblies capable of withstanding the effects of earthquake motions determined according to ASCE 7, "Minimum De-sign Loads for Buildings and Other Structures": Section 9, "Earthquake Loads.”
D. Energy Performance: Provide roof panels with solar reflectance index not less than 29 when calculated according to ASTM E 1980 based on testing identical products by a qualified testing agency.
E. Energy Performance: Provide roof panels that are listed on the U.S. Department of Energy's ENERGY STAR Roof Products Qualified Product List for steep-slope roof products.
F. Energy Performance: Provide roof panels with initial solar reflectance not less than
0.25 and emissivity not less than 0.75 when tested according to CRRC-1.
1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Roof Installer Qualifications: The roofing installer shall be approved and authorized by Roofing System Manufacturer to install manufacturer’s product.
B. Snow Guard Installer: Installer shall be experienced in the installation of snow guards with not less than 5 years of experience in the project area.

1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. As specified in Division 1 Section, “Submittal Procedures.” Submit manufacturer's literature for each type of roof panel and accessory.

B. Shop Drawings:
1. Provide shop drawings drawn to scale and coordinating metal roof panel instal-lation with penetrations, flashing, and roof-mounted items. Include manufactur-er’s details addressing each type of trim and flashing condition encountered for the project.
2. Provide layout and standard detail drawing showing locations of all snow guard components including clamps and clamp spacing.
C. Samples: Provide color samples for each exposed finish.
D. Sample Warranty.
1.5 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS

3. Warranty:
a. Special Warranty on Panels: Manufacturer's standard form in which man-ufacturer agrees to repair or replace components of metal roof panel as-semblies that fail in materials or workmanship within five (5) years from date of Substantial Completion.
1) Failures include, but are not limited to, the following:
a) Structural failures, including rupturing, cracking, or punctur-ing.
b) Deterioration of metals, metal finishes, and other materials beyond normal weathering.
b. Special Warranty on Panel Finishes: Manufacturer's standard form in which manufacturer agrees to repair finish or replace metal roof panels that show evidence of deterioration of factory-applied finishes within 20 years from date of Substantial Completion.
c. Special Warranty on Roofing System: A 20-year roofing system warranty is required from the roofing system manufacturer. The Contractor will be

responsible to accommodate any removal and reinstallation of incidental materials which must be removed and reinstalled due to the construction of the new roofs. All work shall be accomplished in accordance with the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) recommendations.

a) Roofing system manufacturer’s “Quality Assurance Program” representatives written inspection reports.
b) Roofing system manufacturer’s “Quality Assurance Program” representatives written acceptance inspection report clearly stating that the roofing system has been installed in accord-ance with the manufacturer’s warranty requirements.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 PANEL MATERIALS
A. Metallic-Coated Steel Sheet Prepainted with Coil Coating: Steel sheet metallic coated by the hot-dip process and prepainted by the coil-coating process to comply with
ASTM A 755/A 755M.
1. Aluminum-Zinc Alloy-Coated Steel Sheet: ASTM A 792/A 792M, Class AZ50 coating designation, Grade 40 (Class AZM150 coating designation, Grade 275);
structural quality.
2. Surface: Smooth, flat finish.
3. Exposed Finishes: Two-coat, thermo-cured system with fluoropolymer coats containing not less than 70 percent polyvinylidene fluoride resin by weight;
complying with physical properties and coating performance requirements of AAMA 2604, except as modified below:
1) Humidity Resistance: 1000 hours.
2) Water Resistance: 1000 hours.
4. Concealed Finish: White or light-colored acrylic or polyester backer finish.
B. Panel Sealants:
1. Sealant Tape: Pressure-sensitive, gray polyisobutylene compound sealant tape with release-paper backing; 1/2 inch wide and 1/8 inch thick.
2. Joint Sealant: ASTM C 920; as recommended in writing by metal roof panel manufacturer.
3. Butyl-Rubber-Based, Solvent-Release Sealant: ASTM C 1311.
2.2 UNDERLAYMENT MATERIALS
A. Felts: ASTM D 226, Type II (No 30), asphalt-saturated organic felts.

B. Self-Adhering, High-Temperature Sheet: 40 mils (1.0 mm) thick minimum, consisting of slip-resisting polyethylene-film top surface laminated to layer of butyl or SBS-modified asphalt adhesive, with release-paper backing; cold applied. Provide primer when recommended by underlayment manufacturer.
C. Slip Sheet: Building paper, minimum 5 lb/100 sq. ft., rosin sized.
2.3 MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS
A. Fasteners: Self-tapping screws, bolts, nuts, self-locking rivets and bolts, end-welded studs, and other suitable fasteners designed to withstand design loads. Provide ex-posed fasteners with heads matching color of metal roof panels by means of plastic caps or factory-applied coating.
1. Fasteners for Flashing and Trim: Blind fasteners or self-drilling screws with hex washer head.
2. Blind Fasteners: High-strength aluminum or stainless-steel rivets.
B. Bituminous Coating: Cold-applied asphalt mastic, SSPC-Paint 12, compounded for 15-mil (0.4-mm) dry film thickness per coat. Provide inert-type noncorrosive com-pound free of asbestos fibers, sulfur components, and other deleterious impurities.
2.4 METAL ROOF PANELS
A. Standing-Seam Metal Roof Panels: Factory-formed, designed to be field assembled by lapping and interconnecting raised side edges of adjacent panels with joint type in-dicated and mechanically attaching panels to supports using concealed clips inside laps. Include clips, cleats, pressure plates, and accessories required for weathertight installation.
1. Steel Panel Systems: Comply with ASTM E 1514.
B. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide McElroy Maxima, or a comparable product that meets the following specifications.
1. Type: Vertical rib, mechanically seamed, or snap joint.
2. Material: Metallic-coated steel sheet, 24 gauge.
a. Exterior Finish: Fluoropolymer.
b. Color: As selected by Contracting Officer from manufacturer's full range to match Dorm I roof.
3. Clips: Metallic-coated-steel sheet. Floating type to accommodate thermal movement.
4. Panel Coverage: 12”.
5. Seam Height: 1.5” for mechanically seamed, or 1.75” for snap joint.
6. Uplift Rating: UL 90.

2.5 ACCESSORIES
A. Roof Panel Accessories: Provide components required for a complete metal roof pan-el assembly including trim, copings, fascia, corner units, ridge closures, clips, flash-ings, sealants, gaskets, fillers, closure strips, and similar items. Match material and finish of metal roof panels, unless otherwise indicated.
1. Closures: Provide closures at eaves and ridges, fabricated of same metal as met-al roof panels.
2. Clips: Minimum 0.0625-inch-thick, stainless steel panel clips designed to with-stand negative-load requirements.
3. Cleats: Mechanically seamed cleats formed from minimum 0.0250-inch-thick, stainless steel or nylon-coated aluminum sheet.
4. Closure Strips: Closed-cell, expanded, cellular, rubber or crosslinked, polyole-fin-foam or closed-cell laminated polyethylene; minimum 1-inch- (25-mm-) thick, flexible closure strips; cut or premolded to match metal roof panel profile.
Provide closure strips where indicated or necessary to ensure weathertight con-struction.
B. Flashing and Trim: Formed from 0.0179-inch-thick, metallic-coated steel sheet. Pro-vide flashing and trim as required to seal against weather and to provide finished ap-pearance. Locations include eaves, rakes, corners, bases, framed openings, ridges, fascia, and fillers. Finish flashing and trim with the same finishes as adjacent metal roof panels.
2.6 FABRICATION
A. General: Fabricate and finish metal roof panels and accessories at the factory to great-est extent possible, by manufacturer's standard procedures and processes, as necessary to fulfill indicated performance requirements demonstrated by laboratory testing.
Comply with indicated profiles and with dimensional and structural requirements.
B. Provide panel profile, including major ribs and intermediate stiffening ribs, if any, for full length of panel.
C. Where indicated, fabricate metal roof panel joints with factory-installed captive gas-kets or separator strips that provide a tight seal and prevent metal-to-metal contact, in a manner that will minimize noise from movements within panel assembly.
D. Sheet Metal Accessories: Fabricate flashing and trim to comply with recommenda-tions in SMACNA's "Architectural Sheet Metal Manual" that apply to the design, di-mensions, metal, and other characteristics of item indicated.
E. Protect mechanical and painted finishes on exposed surfaces from damage by applying a strippable, temporary protective covering before shipping.
2.7 SNOW GUARDS

B. Snow guard system attaches directly to metal roof standing seams and includes:

2. Finish: Color match finished roof.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 PREPARATION
A. Install flashings and other sheet metal to comply with requirements specified in Divi-sion 7 Section "Sheet Metal Flashing and Trim."
3.2 UNDERLAYMENT INSTALLATION
A. Self-Adhering Sheet Underlayment: Install self-adhering sheet underlayment, wrinkle free, to roof substrate. Comply with temperature restrictions of underlayment manu-facturer for installation; use primer rather than nails for installing underlayment at low temperatures. Apply in shingle fashion to shed water, with end laps of not less than 6 inches staggered 24 inches between courses. Overlap side edges not less than 3-1/2 inches. Extend underlayment into gutter trough. Roll laps with roller.
B. Felt Underlayment: Install felt underlayment over entire roof deck including self-adhering sheet underlayment. Use adhesive for temporary anchorage. Apply in shin-gle fashion to shed water, with lapped joints of not less than 2 inches.
C. Slip-Sheet: Apply slip-sheet over felt underlayment and on top of self-adhering un-derlayment before installing metal roof panels.
D. Cover underlayment within 14 days.
3.3 METAL ROOF PANEL INSTALLATION, GENERAL
A. General: Provide metal roof panels of full length from eave to ridge, unless otherwise indicated or restricted by shipping limitations. Anchor metal roof panels and other components of the Work securely in place, with provisions for thermal and structural movement.
1. Field cutting of metal roof panels by torch is not permitted.
2. Rigidly fasten eave end of metal roof panels and allow ridge end free movement due to thermal expansion and contraction. Predrill panels.
3. Provide metal closures at peaks, rake edges, rake walls and each side of ridge and hip caps.
4. Flash and seal metal roof panels with weather closures at eaves, rakes, and at pe-rimeter of all openings. Fasten with self-tapping screws.

5. Locate panel splices over, but not attached to, structural supports. Stagger panel splices and end laps to avoid a four-panel lap splice condition.
6. Lap metal flashing over metal roof panels to allow moisture to run over and off the material.
7. Install roof panels such that the wind blows over the lap side joints and not into the side lap joints.
B. Fasteners: Use stainless-steel fasteners for surfaces exposed to the exterior and galva-nized steel fasteners for surfaces exposed to the interior.
C. Metal Protection: Where dissimilar metals will contact each other or corrosive sub-strates, protect against galvanic action by painting contact surfaces with bituminous coating, by applying rubberized-asphalt underlayment to each contact surface, or by other permanent separation as recommended by metal roof panel manufacturer.
1. Coat back side of aluminum roof panels with bituminous coating where roof panels will contact wood, ferrous metal, or cementitious construction.
D. Joint Sealers: Install gaskets, joint fillers, and sealants where required for weather-proof performance of metal roof panel assemblies.
1. Seal metal roof panel end laps with double beads of tape or sealant, full width of panel. Seal side joints where recommended by metal roof panel manufacturer.
3.4 FIELD-ASSEMBLED METAL ROOF PANEL INSTALLATION
A. Standing-Seam Metal Roof Panels: Fasten metal roof panels to supports with con-cealed clips at each standing-seam joint at location, spacing, and with fasteners rec-ommended by manufacturer.
1. Install clips to supports with self-tapping fasteners.
2. Mechanically Seamed: Comply with manufacturer’s product data, recommen-dations, and installation instructions.
3. Snap Joint: Nest standing seams and fastens together by interlocking and com-pletely engaging factory-applied sealant.
3.5 ACCESSORY INSTALLATION
A. General: Install accessories with positive anchorage to building and weathertight mounting and provide for thermal expansion. Coordinate installation with flashings and other components.
1. Install components required for a complete metal roof panel assembly including trim, copings, ridge closures, seam covers, flashings, sealants, gaskets, fillers, closure strips, and similar items.
2. Comply with performance requirements, manufacturer's written installation in-structions, and SMACNA's "Architectural Sheet Metal Manual." Provide con-cealed fasteners where possible, and set units true to line and level. Install work

with laps, joints, and seams that will be permanently watertight and weather re-sistant.
3. All sealants shall be butyl-based.
3.6 SNOW GUARD INSTALLATION
A. Examination:
1. Inspect structure on which snow guard system is to be installed and verify that it will withstand any additional loading that it may incur. Notify Contracting Of-ficer of any deficiencies before installing snow guards.
2. Verify that roofing material has been installed correctly prior to installing snow guards.
3. Verify clamp will attach to the seam.
B. Installation:
1. Locate snow guard system as recommended by manufacturer.
2. Comply with manufacturer’s written instructions for installation and layout.
3. Install each row of snow guard system per the plan. Mount per manufacturer’s recommendations.
a. Bracket Spacing: Each standing rib.
b. Joints and Expansion Joints per manufacturer.
c. 1st row is 2 ft offset from roof drip edge.
d. 2nd row is 5 ft offset from 1st row.
e. 3rd row is 10 ft offset from 2nd row.
3.7 CLEANING AND PROTECTION
A. Remove temporary protective coverings and strippable films, if any, as metal roof panels are installed, unless otherwise indicated in manufacturer's written installation instructions.
