About this file

This document is an Attachment 11 - References section from a solicitation for hydrogeologic and environmental remediation services, involving multiple references from different organizations across Arizona and New Mexico. The references include Freeport-McMoRan (for Cyprus Tohono Mine Site and Sierrita Mine projects), NXP USA, Inc. in Chandler, Arizona, and the New Mexico Environment Department in Roswell. The document is part of a solicitation method of approach by ADEQ (Arizona Department of Environmental Quality) and appears to be seeking comprehensive environmental investigation and remediation services.

The references detail extensive hydrogeologic services focused on site characterization, groundwater modeling, well design and installation, and remediation efforts for contaminated sites involving substances like sulfate, uranium, perchlorate, and trichloroethylene. Key projects include comprehensive environmental investigations at mine sites and industrial locations, with work spanning from 2001 to present. The references demonstrate experience in complex environmental remediation, including site investigations, aquifer testing, soil and groundwater sampling, vapor intrusion mitigation, and system installations. For the New Mexico Environment Department project, the contractor documented over 70,000 pounds of contaminant mass removal in the first three months of system operation, highlighting the technical capabilities and effectiveness of the proposed services.

Summarize the scope and deliverables provided, including timeline and outcome.

GLA subsidiary, DBS&A, was awarded a State Lead remediation services contract in 2018 to remediate soil and groundwater contamination from historical releases in Clovis, New Mexico. The regional drinking water supply obtained from regional groundwater present within the Ogallala Aquifer was impacted, and the dissolved-phase plume was undefined. DBS&A completed site characterization and confirmed the primary point of release in 2019 and 2020, prepared the remediation plan in 2021, and coordinated construction of the remediation system in 2022. Following award of the subsequent State Lead remediation services contract in 2023, DBS&A has been operating the installed remediation system since November 2023. PROJECT DESCRIPTION IN ATTACHMENT 10.

List key Materials or Services provided.

DBS&A initiated an extensive site investigation program in 2019 that resulted in installation of nine wells to a depth of approximately 365 feet below ground surface. Eight 5-inch-diameter monitor / groundwater extraction wells were installed to define the lateral extent of contamination. Four multi-zone remediation wells were installed to define the vertical extent of contamination and facilitate future remediation, with three different screen intervals installed across the vadose zone and the water table. Sonic drilling methods that produced discrete soil samples needed to delineate soil contamination in the vadose zone were the key to characterizing the Former Y Shamrock as the primary point of release. Due to the depth-to-water, a Bennett Pump owned by DBS&A was used for collection of groundwater samples.

Aquifer testing was also performed to characterize key aquifer parameters and project reasonable pumping rates during remediation. Saturated hydraulic conductivity was performed at the DBS&A Soil Testing Laboratory to confirm aquifer parameters determined with aquifer testing. Remediation technologies implemented for remediation of the site includes soil vapor extraction and groundwater pump and treat (i.e., dual-phase extraction), with discharge of treated water to the sanitary sewer. DBS&A documented more than 70,000 pounds of mass removal in the first three months of system operation. This work has involved close coordination with the City of Clovis and engaging the public throughout the remediation process.
