About this file
This document is an Industry Day announcement for the United States Space Force's Ground Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) Program. The on-site visit will be held on April 22, 2026, from 0900-1300 hours (Central/Local) at Cavalier Space Force Station in North Dakota. The GBRD Program seeks industry solutions to modernize seven existing ground-based radar sites strategically located globally—at Thule AB (Greenland), Beale AFB (California), Cape Cod SFS (Massachusetts), Clear SFS and Eareckson AS (Alaska), Cavalier SFS (North Dakota), and RAF Fylingdales (United Kingdom)—to enhance space domain awareness capabilities, reduce sustainment costs, and address obsolescence issues within the Ballistic Missile Defense System.
The USSF is particularly interested in industry solutions leveraging open system, non-proprietary architectures to avoid vendor lock-in; Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) technology to minimize development risks and costs; and cybersecurity compliance for modernized systems. The program objectives include digitizing eight radar sites, enhancing radar performance with increased tracking capacity and extended range, transitioning to a government-owned modular open system architecture with commonality across all radar back ends, and adding Missile Defense capability to PARCS. Attendance is limited to one representative per company and requires an active US Government Secret Clearance. Interested parties must complete site access approval by April 3, 2026, via the provided DBIDS enrollment link and submit EALs to 10 SWS Security Forces. No photography, recording, or electronics are permitted on site. For additional program details, reference Notice ID FA872325RB003.

USSF/SSC/BMC3I Program Executive Office – Industry Day LEO/MEO Sensing Program Office’s Ground Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) Program
Title of Event: Ground Based Radar Digitization Program – On Site Visit Industry Day
Audience: Industry Representatives
When: 22 Apr 2026, 0900-1300 hours (Central /Local)
Where: Cavalier Space Force Station, 12810 91st St NE, Cavalier, ND 58220
Background: Strategically positioned around the globe, the United States Space Force's Ground Based Radars (GBRs) form a critical line of defense within the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDs).
These long-range, all-weather radars, located at Thule AB (Greenland), Beale AFB (California), Cape Cod SFS (Massachusetts), Clear SFS and Eareckson AS (Alaska), Cavalier SFS (North Dakota), and RAF Fylingdales (United Kingdom), provide vital early warning, tracking, and classification data for incoming ballistic missiles. Beyond early warning, the GBRs provide Integrated Tactical Warning and Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) to the National Command Authority and support the Space Surveillance Network.
GBRD supports the National Defense Strategy by continuing missile warning (MW), missile defense (MD), missile tracking (MT), and improving space domain awareness (SDA) capabilities. The Program will:
• Digitize eight radar sites to improve space domain awareness capabilities and address sustainment challenges and obsolescence.
• Enhance radar performance, including increased tracking capacity, extended range, and improved object classification.
• Transition to a government-owned, modular open system architecture with a high level of commonality between all radar back ends
• Add Missile Defense to PARCS
Purpose. United States Space Force (USSF) is seeking information from Industry regarding the modernization of Ground Based Radars (GBRs) under GBRD. This effort aims to digitize legacy radar systems to enhance space domain awareness, reduce sustainment costs, and address obsolescence issues. The USSF is particularly interested in solutions that:
1. Leverage open system, non-proprietary architectures to ensure future scalability and avoid vendor lock.
2. Utilize Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) technology to minimize development risks and costs.
3. Incorporate Cybersecurity compliance for modernized radar systems
